Cracking PJ on that antenociti car. I have this and its twin still luxuriating in its original resin livery.

A nice start, the effects on the windows are... effective.

Ooooo, shiny  :-* :-* :-* Love the windows on that!

Are we going to have little comp to see who has the highest playable table  ;)

I reckon this'll be an absolute corker mate  8) 8)

What sort of building style are you going for, Stallone Dredd, Urban Dredd, comic Dredd, something else?

cheers

James

Highest table? You win already! I wouldn't even think of competing in that competition!! ;)

Style-wise I'm going to use these pics for reference. I've searched google for concept buildings and such like....

The one I like the most is the third picture down. Out of the three buildings, the one on the right offers some good possibilities. I'm thinking of making my buildings modular and have some of the levels attached to the other buildings via raised walkways/gangways. It would mean the big buildings wouldn't become vertical bottlenecks during a game! It should play (hopefully) like Necromunda.
Cracking job Andy, I'm really interested in seeing the telescopic stands.

I haven't forgotten about the images by the way, I just can't find the box with the Judge Dredd comics in it. I've found Green Arrow,  Superman,  Legends of the Dark Knight and Batman so far. It'll be in the boxes right at the back no doubt!

Thanks Steve! Only if its no trouble mate!!
Lovely car, still annoyed I can't buy those.

I did find one of these on a market stall the other day though.

No missiles so only cost me £2. Snapped the launchers off the sides and started to clean it up a bit. With a repaint it should work nicely, certainly a good scale.

In my opinion, those Antenocities cars are the best hover cars I've seen! Its a dam shame they've stopoed them. I think they're still sold in 15mm. That Star Wars one will look good when its done Dean!
Cracking start, mate.
That paintjob is wonderful and you really nailed those windows!
 :-* :-*

I am so glad that I am going for an interior-only thing for my stab at MC-1.
Looking forward to seeing your solution regarding buildings.

This may sound crazy, but have you considered using the body of an old Dyson or similar for the basis of an MC-1-style building?
Things like that could provide an excellent basis for the weird building style of the comics....
 ;)

Thanks Dave!

It was always the outside I wanted to play in MC1. The problem us the scale of some of the things. If tge buildings are too big you just won't be able to play round them. I figure if I do a couple of linked bigger building around the edge and leave the centre faurly free, that'll work!

An old hoover or something wouldn't let me make the buildings modular. Some smaller shapes like that might work in the middle though! ::) I'll need to see what I can find!

Sorry Andy,  I'm hijacking your thread here!

Hijack away mate! I love hearing other people's ideas on how they are going to go about it!

Cracking PJ on that antenociti car. I have this and its twin still luxuriating in its original resin livery.

Ohhh. I don't suppose you could be convinced to part with them? Either for cash/wonga or a swapeze for something you need for one of your current projects? ;)

Cheers for the feedback gents! :D

There's some cracking ideas there mate  8)

I'm inclined to agree with your choice as well  :)

Just thinking, looking at some of those concepts, you could do a bit of Star Wars gaming on Coruscant as well if the fancy took you.

cheers

just a thought but if you put each building/feature on a 30cm square board and matched up the entrances, road levels et at different points (call them connectors) you could then create a variety of table scapes,

The roads and gangways are added to these connectors (magnets?)

This makes me think of a couple of necromunda boards, this classic vertical one might contain some ideas of how to arrange a vertical gaming area

Then there is this table on the thenickenninja blog.
http://thenickeninja.wordpress.com/2014/07/28/short-clip/
It's still a work in progress and obviously a bit scrappier than MC1 but it shows what can be done with scrap materials and a bit of hard work, it's well worth scrolling through his blog and having a look at his stuff.

Then there was this guy who took apart some water pistols in order to make some MC1 towers.

I'm sure there are painted versions somewhere but I can't find them.

It just struck me that there are some similarities between Mega City 1 and New New York (from Futurama). I could see JD tracking down a mutant named Zoidberg, or Bender setting off a day of the robots rebellion.

A futuristic version of this sort of split level thing was what I had in mind for exterior games:

Sorry, attempts to put the photos in the post failed.

Found them! They were in the very last box of 16 boxes, right at the back of the attic in a tiny crawl space. Why the hell I put them there I'll never know!

Great idea that. Very much nicked. If you can find a big super soaker that would work as a large MC1 block even.
Now water can flow....or water can crash...be water my friend.
