Delbruck

We have a lot of fully barded horses in scale armours,

I think that looks very like the impression you posted.

Cheers

It is certainly possible to interpret the lines on the barding as scale or lamallae.

Keith, any hint on what the eastern Sassanids might look like?

Depending on design choices these might also be useful for Turkic heavy cavalry of the same period.

I received my order from Aventine today. They are extraordinary figures, beautifully sculpted and very well cast. They have exceeded my expectations. I can't wait for the rest of the release. And to top it off I received my order (from England to the USA) in six days. :)

Spear held aloft is probably the boring pose for a horseman.  Can we have some of these with spear/lance held overarm.  Please!

New additions are now in the store. We have added 2 packs of clibanarii with bow and a new unit deal with front rank lancers rear rank archers. We will also add 2 more sets of horses with full armour tomorrow and a set of heavily armoured sword and mace armed knights very soon.

Cheers

Excellent, I have been waiting for these. I am surprised to see the news on the upcoming release of more armored horses. Adam must have the recored for armored horses. Any information on these? Also, most of the figures appear to be split at the waist. Is the head attached or is this seperate like the Parthian LC? Third, are the shield transfers new LBMS or are they old (Gripping Beast)?

Hi Delbruck

The horses are some of the 1/2 armoured ones with the same style of armour applied to the rear quarters.

The bodies of 5 of the 6 archers are two part, the heads had to be cast in-place due to the chain mail hoods, there being no easy way to cover the join.

Adam put the transfers on, I am not sure where he sourced them from, they are not from sheets I have in stock. On that point Steve may do some more for us given the size of the range. Adam will get back on this issue asap.

Another thing that might be of interest to you, we have started to list the riders from the packs without the horses in our store to allow them to be paired up with whichever set of horses you want, eg lancers with 1/2 armoured archers on unarmoured etc etc. There should be 11 sets of 3 horses in the store tomorrow and we will continue to add the riders as Adam gets them done. The combined prices are the same as the standard packs.

Hope that helps

keith

Adam has confirmed that they are the Gripping Beast set from LBMS. I will try and get Steve to do some a bit bigger to fit our shields.

Cheers

Personally, I am fond of the 15mm Persian transfers for Xyston:
