Samnites maybe a while yet say June but that is a guess. Adam has a lot to finish in the Sassanid Range first. (Eastern unit, infantry etc.) but they will follow as soon as the SP are done.

That timeline fits in perfectly with my project.  8) 8)  Sorry to hijack the thread.

Adam is painting a unit of the Cataphracts and hopes to have them ready early next week, I will share the photos.

I really look forward to seeing what Adam can do with has designs :)

Good Lord.  These have to be the most beautiful historicals I have ever seen.  When this is complete I am buying a crap-ton of them.  Well done.

Some of the detail on the figures is incredible - although I would like to see some Sassanid cavalry in more basic/simple equipment. Perhaps if Adam does early Byzantines he could consider doing some (generic) medium horse archers in mail or padded armor, usable as Byzantine and Sassanids.

SASS23 the new command set for the Eastern Sassanid unit. Adam is working on the lancers and archers so they will appear next week.

Excellent. Clearly the "Eastern Sassanids" will be very useful for many other armies, most especially the Turks.

We have added the packs SASS15-19 which will finish the Eastern or Sughdian unit, there is one pack that are Avars(SASS18) and we will add a second pack to use in an Avar Unit deal. The 18 and 19 packs are multi part archers, we have cast the bow with the hand as a separate piece as this allows the bow to be placed at  better and more natural angles. As can be seen in one of the photographs they can be posed as a Parthian shot.

In mixed units these will do for a whole range of Eastern warriors of the period e.g. Early Turks, White Huns, Khurasani, Ephthalites and late Saka warriors. They will fit perfectly into a late Sassanian army representing one of the Eastern units raised from what was a vassal state run by Turkish nobles and minor Iranian nobility of dihqans. Many Turks were now also living in eastern Iran and serving as mercenaries.

Loads more photos on the site http://aventineminiatures.co.uk/

One more pack to add, some Avars with lance and that will be the heavy cavalry finished. We are doing a unit of Huns and infantry to finish the range.

Cheers

Keith

Superb minies (as usual  :-*)

Mhhhhh ... Do you think they could be used for Scythicon or Bulgars during the XIIIth Century !?

Nearly impossible to find some pictures of these medieval bulgars , but i think the combination of lamellar , bowmen , and all that , could be interesting to modelling thes bulgars !?

Fantastic release. Very useful figures. I wouldn't have a problem using many of the figures as a variety of dark age and early medeival Asiatic heavy cavalry.

The release of Avars and Huns certainly implies that we might be seeing Early Byzantines in the near future ;D

Avars with lance in mixed poses to go with the mounted archers. Adam is doing a command for them as well.

Once the command is done we will add a unit deal.

Avars? So you're going really late Late Antiquity then? Always good to push the limits. :D
Very nice models.

WEb site went down because of a bandwidth limit being reached. We are proving to be very popular and 200GB per month was just not enough. The limit has been increased so this willnot happen again.

Cheers
