OMG - somehow this thread has totally escaped me. Can’t believe it.

Love everything, but obviously really like your recent work - right up my alley!

Yep, that's why I added drinks holders and in-APC DVD screens.

Did some quick scenics over the weekend, about three hours effort and much more time spent waiting for various coats to dry. The thing I like most about them is how quick they were.

Anyone have any suggestions for other mesa style rocks? Preferably photos, links and vids...  ;)

They look really nice!

I've got some pink styrofoam slated for rocky scenics waiting in my cupboard!

Thanks guys. They're not brill but they were quick. I used a "hot pen" cutter, which is probably the most dangerous tool I own, as it's not built very well.
If you're thinking of getting one consider buying something else instead.  :?

Oh it's more insidious than that. After the first five minutes of using this it became apparent that the two part handle was coming apart or not tight enough, so the heated element wasn't being fully held in place, so any movement away from the handle slowly creeps it out of place. I've managed to avoid having it come out, but not a happy prospect.

Good idea, I'm possibly looking at cork too if I can find a good cheap source. I think making out of something with ready made detail is the way to do it.

I've done some more. First a couple more of the "cogs"...

Then a hacked lump o' foam...

And my fave, slate chips...

The slate ones were the fastest by far and with all that lovely detail which required no sculpting. Basically glued them onto a base, added some basetex, painted and done. The others are foam, not only had to be shaped but sealed too, takes too long I think.
