A water feature does not have to be a full blown Victoria Falls. This reminds me of a tanker pumping out the bilges.

Hi Bezzo, i seen a lot of pics of flying islands but this one is new to me. Funnily enough that is closer in style to what i am builing than most of the other ones.
You are right, but this is what i mean about "water disappearing into fine spray". Love it and if anyone has a good idea how to model it i will try it out.

Hi James, definately no waterfall. Every time i see pictures or models of beautiful flying islands with waterfalls i imagine how much rain would be needed to produce that much water. They must be the wettest places on earth to live on!!
Seriously though, in the best pics, small waterfalls just disappear into fine spray which looks great but i have no idea how to model it.

Fair comments  :)

But going on your last post, maybe capoc or fine cotton wool might work for the spray. Modelling the transition between water and spray would be tricky though and could depend on how the body of the water was done.

Regarding the fine grass flock, you could put it in a food blender and chop it up some more but it will get very messy, especially with the static involved.

Got some more finished.
First, 2 more uninhabited islands.

Then we have the farm island.

And at last i have the airbase finished.
Tip if you make things like this - Do the masts when everything else is finished or will you break then off at least a couple of times.  >:(
Quite happy with the result. Only a bit disapointed with the painted buildings. Need a different technique to shading and highlighting figures.

Thanks all.

I am planning on playing on a "sea" table. All water except for the flying islands. The idea is a "broken world" background to the game where the only land left is in the form of islands floating through the sky. The various nations fight to control as many islands as they can.
This also makes it easy for thie ships (floating and flying) to move around the table, as their bases can stand anywhere without falling over.

That's what I imagined, that or a plain tabletop representing sky/clouds.

Started work on my 1st aeronef flying ship.
I will buy most of the smaller ships from Brigade Models as they are quite cheap (between 50p and £3.00) and for that price its not really worth building yourself unless you are a die hard scratchbuilder.
This ship will be about 7.5cm long.It is mainly out of plasticard, battleship model bits and extra guns from Brigade again.
I got the battleship models from a bring and buy for €2 each

Really enjoying this project. It makes a nice change to painting figures.
