Among the War parties board
« on: September 05, 2008, 06:37:01 PM »
A few days ago I asked about the right size of a board suitable for AtWP. I got a response quite quickly and started building. Due to missing storing space (damn you, two-room-appartement :-[) I decided to go with a 2x2 board.

The trees are from railroad modelling. They are pinned and thus removable. The remainig terrain is fixed. The white spots on the lake/river-part are drying pva glue (my cheap water effect :D). Notice the free space behind the wall, there will be a little farm, yet to be painted.
Hope you guys like... 8)

That's really great! You got quite a bit of stuff on that little board. It should do you quite well!

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Very nice. I like the little patch of greens in the field, sort of like the "kitchen garden" on my grandparent's farm in rural PA. nice touch!

I am amassing materials for something similar. Thanks to an LAF tip I bought 40 5-6" trees from eBayer "everydaygoodz". They turned up yesterday and I have to say they are tops, especially at roughly 60 cents a tree including shipping! :o

Excellent board! I'm jealous. Between this one and Pete's I have no good "wooded" boards.

Time to get building I guess.  :)

That's a very neat little set-up.
Particularly like the little bit of shoreline for slipping ashore from a canoe...
Well done.

Brilliant  :o
Note: No trees were killed in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Thank you all for the kind words  :)
Finished the little farm today, the boards now done!

Off to the next terrain building project (which will lead me to some small japanese village, defended by 6 or 8 samurais)!
....wait, I have to paint some settlers and indians first  :D

looks very nice, interesting the idea to have delimitations of the board, was made with wood?

Well, thanks again!
Piero, the frame is wood, sawed to the right lenght and then srewed together and to the groundplate. The actual board was then attached to the groundplate using doublesided tape, hence no warping!

I actually was close to killing the guy at the craft store, as he didn't understand that i needed 4 planks of the exact lenght! He wasted three 3m planks and still didn't get it right! So I took what he sawed for the sake of me and him... >:( Now, the frame isn't symethric at all, but still looks ok, i guess...

Actually the style I've been thinking of for a 'sand-board' - a flat box with real sand in it instead of shaped terrain - for desert gaming... Still in the planning process, as real life does not leave me much time for larger projects... (my elevated board - idea courtesy of Operator5 - still needs to have its legs stablilized  :(  ).

So much for the off-topic ranting.

VERY nice board!! I love that log house/farm  8)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!
