Some great painting jobs and lovely miniatures there, a good start, well done everyone!

#006: Gargh Blaargh, Interstellar Bounty Hunter

What a biest! I might have him somewhere under my lead mountain, having bought him and another similar big alien thingy years ago from Bob Olley.

A search through some old boxes revealed a few unpainted GW Catachan Jungle Warriors.

Lovely entries so far, but that Bounty Hunter beast is my very favourite! Hope to see many exciting miniatures like that here, and of course all newly painted!  8)

All right, time for some clarifications.

  • 40k has explicitly not been excluded since a) there are a lot of nice figures from that part of the miniverse and b) I still like it. People are free to post whatever they want, as long as it's Sci-Fi, and as long as it meets the criteria outlined in the OP. Obviously, people may also disagree with some facets of that, but I'd prefer it to stay within civil lines.
  • As per the rules, figures should be newly-painted and not have been seen here on the LAF. If that is not the case, I strongly ask people to paint up something new for the Club, since one of the reasons of the Painting Club format was always to stimulate some hobby work while being less formal and stressful than the LPL.

If I find people are consciously and egregiously posting old stuff, I'll remove those items and phrase the Newly-painted rule in a more mandatory fashion
    .

Another point that bears repeating:

ANY ENTRY may only consist of a single picture featuring a single base, containing either a single figure or a small unit, such as a heavy weapon and crew, a small vehicle and crew, or for smaller scales/sizes (<=15mm), a small (2-5) group of figures.

ANY ENTRY NOT MEETING THIS AND THE OTHER CRITERIA WILL BE MODIFIED OR REMOVED.

Here we go again!

Time to dig out a few minis that has been waiting for ever for this event to take place  ;)

Spiffing entries so far, I'll better get my act together to not lower the standards  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

since one of the reasons of the Painting Club format was always to stimulate some hobby work while being less formal and stressful than the LPL.

This is why I enjoy the Painting Clubs so much. My painting is not up to much compared to a lot of people who post on here, but I feel comfortable posting on LAF as people are usually pretty friendly and humour is an important part of the Forum. The Painting Clubs make me paint figures I otherwise would not paint, and that's got to be a good thing. On this one, I had to read through the Future Wars board to see what miniatures people were posting and whether I had to buy a figure to enter or not (I am happy to buy the odd figure I will probably never use in gaming). I normally only paint Pulp although I'm just starting out in F & IW. I do have quite a few Dr. Who minis unpainted and I might try and paint one of those for entry as well. That's another good thing, making me paint figures that are right at the bottom of my priorities.

Keep up the good work with the Painting Clubs!
