Alternative Bloodbowl Figures?
« on: January 03, 2015, 12:22:27 PM »
Hey guys, just got into bloodbowl and I quite like the look of the chaos team, but hate the figures. I was wondering who people use for miniatures? I want to go for a beast themed team, using satyrs for beatmen, Minotaurs, and some sort of other best for the chaos warriors - i.e. something strong and powerful looking rather than the evil heavy Armour look  they currently have.

Here are a couple of others that work really well depending on your theme. ;) I'm a big fan of the thrower myself.

Not sure I like the style of those guys. They are very... spiky. lots of sharp edges.
The beastmen and the minotaur have spikes on the left shoulder pads, but that's about it. You could always file them off. If you want to stick with the beasts theme, it'll be hard to find chaos stuff out there that doesn't have at least few spikes! lol

You could always look at the Impact! Miniatures Siringit and Sarcos lines if you wanted to put an African twist on the beast theme:

http://www.impactminiatures.com/index.php?option=sarcos

Both have a nice assortment of different creatures that you might be able to put to use.

If you're really having trouble finding something out there that you you like and don't want to do any extensive converting, you could always build a proxy or 'counts as' team that fits the abilities and play style of the chaos team. You could use the orcs that you posted or maybe even something like this:

Just a thought. Best of luck with you project! :)

They are cool, especially the larger ones :D

By sharp I mean the edges, rather than the spikes. I would not mind spikes really, but the Armour has very crisp, well defined lines and edges and a rather futuristic look. What I like about the others is the oldschool, slightly miss matched football gear.

I did see these, which are converted GW figures. They are ok, not perfect though. I am happy to convert them also, but im quite unskilled

Black Scorpion Miniatures makes an entire range of alternative Blood Bowl figures --- including Chaos.

They're a bit more restrained than some...pretty logical team set-ups.  Their Chaos team is new I think, so not too much choice --- also they've moved to resin which has killed my enthusiasm for some of the Black Scorpion stuff.

Love some of their other teams too.

Alternative BB teams? Soooo much choice, and lots of different styles, although mostly I prefer the 2nd edition BB teams that GW produced (nostalgia!) and try and pick them up off eBay or trading groups.

A full list of GW's teams over the years, as well as a good selection of more recent 3rd party teams, can be found at Ruedinger's website: http://www.blood-bowl-miniatures.de/

You have to wait a few seconds for the menu down the left hand column to load, but it's an excellent resource.

http://www.thenaf.net/resources/suppliers/ - pretty much every maker of Blood Bowl Fantasy Football figures out there, from companies like Impact that have a large range covering pretty much every team, to companies like Heresy that have one or two suitable models.

Not on that list is Hasslefree, who have a small range of compatible figures.

Bit late perhaps, But I toyed with using the age of sigmar models, as they are fairly cheap on ebay. Use the marauders as beastmen and the big guys as warriors. Just snip all weapons off and file an area of shoulder pad for a number. Probably a bit edgy for you though. But an idea.

Has anyone tried anything from Apocalypse Miniatures? I'm quite tempted by their Goblin team...

I can't find the link any more; they sold direct on eBay.

I ended up going with Willy Miniatures goblins.
