Hi all,
I had a few weeks off over Crimbo so thought I'd try and finish the Undertakers. That went down the toilet as I realised I needed more styrene brick sheets; waiting for them to be delivered would have wasted time. I remembered I purchased a Skytrex kit a few years ago as I need a station entrance for the London set up so I set to work. It's almost finished (Christmas excesses slowed things down a bit
) with a just a few small details to add.
There's only two pics for now as the light was bad this evening and most of the pictures are crap. I'll get some more up at the weekend.
I painted the kit in my usual brick colour. The signs are taken from an actual picture dated around 1890 and were gratefully written up for me by Svennn.
For those interested, the Metropolitan District Railway is now the District Line of the London Underground. It was dug just below street level (not as deep as more modern lines) and was first opened in 1868. Originally the line only ran through the centre of London, but by 1884 it had expanded into the east and west suburbs. I haven't given this station a name, that way I can use it for different locations and scenarios (got a few of those up my sleeve).
The centrefold shot. As you can see, there's details that need finishing off (just noticed the chimney pots need painting too, oops). The advertisement is from a collection I have been building up:
This is the side booking office window. The top sign is by Svennn and the two white signs are my efforts (the prices are fairly accurate if you were to travel from parts of the western suburbs). The lamp is from Langley Models.
As I said, I'll get some much better quality pics up at the weekend
