British troops, Mars Service - now with Martians (p3)
« on: January 09, 2015, 06:39:10 PM »
So, got a few of these yesterday and got them cleaned up and based. Also converted the sentry figure into a standard bearer and did head swaps to add in an officer and medic for the command section. I don't have time to paint them myself so I've passed them over to a local painter to try him out. Looking forward to getting them back, must be patient :D

It's a wip thread! I'm busy painting Martians (in the few minutes a week I can get away from children), so these have to be sent out. Besides, I hate painting, if I could afford it I wouldn't do any at all.

Also, new toys! They have to be shown.

Guess what I want to say  lol

I understand your position, you're just wrong ;)

28mm, a future range from North Star (not the conversions obviously). Not on website etc but available if you email directly. Should be able to zoom in on the pic pretty well if you click it.

*blush* Just figured out the expand-o-pic.

They are handsome.

Doug

Edit: And don't let them needle you; I almost never post any piccies, knowing the abuse to come. You're a brave lad.  :D

Calm down nipper, we is only pulling ya leg(s) :D

If I could afford it I wouldn't paint for other people to raise the money to buy my toys.  Or should that be my extra toys?

I look forward to seeing them progress, have you gone the dusty khaki or full on red route?  I expected to be seeing some of these with helmet badges and spikes added by you know who as they are very nice figures. Twenty five of them is going to be very nice indeed.

If painting figures is paying for your guitar purchases then you is doing well my friend ;)

I've gone the red route, I did consider Khaki but I still want to do NWF at some point so will hold off on that. Not entirely sure what to do with them next though. I was trying to convince Nick Eyre to get artillery crew and cavalry done earlier today. He's up for the idea, just need to actually get him to commission some...

Oh and for the interested, they're sculpted by Mark Simms, which surprised me a bit as they're bigger than his usual fare and if I'm honest nicer. I like Mark Simm's stuff and own a lot of his dark ages sculpts but these are a bit more 'exciting' in my opinion. The officer figures are by Mike Owen, I've just head swapped for the trooper heads so they match in.

They're all going to die. ;)

Can't wait to how they turn out. ;D

Indeed, not one of his best if I'm honest, a bit pixelated, but still looks good.

Update to the force. Got the figures back Friday evening and managed to wrangle a couple of hours today to finish off the details and bases. Royal Navy Stallion Steam Striders attached for heavy reconnaissance.
I'll try and get some better pics tomorrow in daylight (assuming it stops raining.)
