Howdy all,

I've been a long time lurker here and after seeing TMP readership seem to dry up, I decided to start posting here. I hope to use this thread in particular to show the progress of my 40k projects. After a decade long hiatus of historical wargaming (my old handle here was Iron Ivan Keith) I was pulled back into the grim dark of the 40th millennium. I've been especially inspired by many of the Rogue Trader and 40k projects posted here. While I fully dived back into the 40k universe, the same cannot be said of the rules, and I use a modified Disposable Heroes Point Blank and Disposable Heroes & Coffin For Seven Brothers for my games. Being the author, I have really enjoyed tinkering with the systems for our games. We use Point Blank for the more RPG and skirmish oriented games and DHC7B for bigger battles. So far, it has mostly been Point Blank as our forces among the club members are still growing.

The first problem I encountered when getting back into 40k was almost a complete lack of terrain. Especially buildings. A French WWII village just isn't going to cut it. I did have some post apocalyptic terrain, but even that has its limitations for 40k. So I had to find solutions that allowed us to get gaming again quickly. Luckily, I was able to secure a group of old desert style dwellings that I had used for 40k a long time ago from a friend who had used them for historical games. They were very generic adobe style buildings though (I had used them for Orks, Star Wars, and even modern Middle East). I decided to turn them into something a little more grim dark, but not so gothic as to be unusable for other sci fi or post apocalyptic settings.

The last several blog posts show the project from beginning to almost complete (I only have two more buildings in the original set to refurbish).

Here is the latest, a Shanty Fort:

Here is my blog post that kicked off the descent back into 40k madness with my Ork project and various other units and characters. It also contains a battle report of one of our first games of Point Blank in the 40k universe: the rescue of a governor and retinue from a downed Aquila Lander.

Hope you enjoy the projects and pics. I will update this thread as things progress. Thanks for looking!

Oeh pretty!
Be mindful of the prayers you send
Pray hard but pray with care
For the tears that you are crying now
Are just your answered prayers

Welcome. Some nice looking figures there.

To post images on LAF - you need to have an IMG tag around the link to your photo - the easiest way is to click the little landscape icon (2nd row, 2nd one along)

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I was just wondering how to do that and was looking it up.

Edit: Hey, it worked! Fixed the pics so they show up. Thanks!

Lovely stuff, Pizzagrenadier, like the weathering of the buildings, also the blue-white faces of the orcs are pretty nice.

Looking good!  :-*
I particularly like the corrosion and weathering on your metals in the shanty town, and the look of those (Forgeworld?) MkVI marines. Pretties.
Those Orks and Marines make me think "Battle for the Farm"....

Thanks guys!

The beakie Marines are Forgeworld. I do intend to use them for the Battle at the Farm sometime soon. I'm not a big fan of the Forgeworld beakies though. They're ok, but there are only two leg options and they are skinnier than the newest GW Tactical Marines. I found that the newest Tactical box has 4 different MK VI legs, two beakie heads, and a set of shoulder pads. I've been buying up loose bits to assemble an all MK VI beakie force to use for the Badab War (pics on the blog).

I just need to make a few scenic items for that scenario. I can't wait to play it as that is the very thing that got me into wargaming! I was thinking of converting one of my Ork nobs as Thrugg Bullneck.

I'll be honest - I typically hesitate to click on Warhammer related threads...but this is a gem.  Love the buildings and terrain and it's wonderful to see Beakies back in action.  Awesome stuff.

Lovely work. Orks , Crimson fists and rustic buildings looks like your all set for the Rogue Trader Battle of the Farm.
