Glorfindel and Erestor for broadsword!

I've been thinking of trying out my old lord of the rings figures in broadsword adventures. I had these two lying around and thought i'd paint them up for a game that we may play tomorrow (well that or a game of supersystem - far too many projects on the go! o_o)

Hopefully get some pics of that game too!

Excellent looking figures. You did a great job painting them up. If you do end up using them in a game, I can't wait to hear how it goes.

Well, well, well, now those are two fine looking gentlemen. Very well done! Yet somehow Broadsword always seemed more fitting for the sword and sorcery style of a game and less for the more melancholic Lord of the Rings type of story. Or do you want to use them as non LotR figures?

To be honest i'm only using the lotr stuff until I get my hands on some more "fantasy-esque" models, if you get what I mean? They were the most fitting type of models I have lying around!

We are just going to try the rules out tomorrow and it will have very little really back story. Just painting some high elves as we speak too!

I really want to try and get my hands on some reaper stuff but it seems nigh on impossible to get anyone who stocks it over in the uk!

I'm actually going to be playing around with some Lord of the RIngs style games using the rules. I love the stories and have many of the GW models.  :-X

The rules are veratile enough that with some tweaks you could play almost any setting.

Actually yes, you are right. It's probably just me as a complete Tolkien nerd that I can't stand the idea of mixing Middle-earth with any other thing. Of course any set of rules can be used with the minis.

However, being me I rather bask in the idea of having a great game just for the sword and sorcery style. Call me inflexible.  :D

I think they'd work well as non-Tolkien characters.

I use LOTR figures in other genres, with no problem.

For example, the Haradrim work for desert-based secret societies [as in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"] and the Moria Orcs as VSF/Pulp troglodytes. Handy for swarming out and swamping adventuring parties  >:D

Multi-functional figures are always attractive to me.
