The paint work on the CP Grays is excellent, but even more pressing - who makes those red tufts, and why didn't I know they existed when I was grinding out stuff for All Quiet On the Martian Front?  Gah!

They're on ebay -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300-Mini-Tufts-by-Serious-Play-Scenery-Model-Warhammer-Static-Grass-Small-Tiny/122015899456?_trksid=p2045573.c100506.m3226&_trkparms=aid%3D555014%26algo%3DPL.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D43781%26meid%3Dde3c930f91fa44daa9fe54fc736ccd33%26pid%3D100506%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26

Be warned - they're not great, they're not all 'vertical' (i.e. they've settled at squiff angles) and aren't adhesive at all - you'll notice on mine I've surrounded them with other tufts, partly to help hold them upright. Still, nice pop of colour.

Thanks, I'll take a look.  AQotMF was a flash in the pan, but I suspect I'll need to base Martian/Barsoomian stuff again someday, and red tufts would be helpful for that.

Are the minis any good? There's a fair bit on eBay at the moment - a how 18mm are they? Massive or just big 15s?

The human figs (lobotomized or not) are way bigger than any 15mm I've seen, even modern stuff.  18mm is a fair descriptor.  The tanks and drones and tripods are suitable for 15mm scale, though.  They'd be quite big but workable, and some of it could even work in 28mm depending on how large you think a tripod should be.  Detail level is fairly low across the board, but not horrible.  Think the main reason for the game not catching on (at least locally) was some production/distribution SNAFUs and iffy game balance between the forces, not any tremendous failings of the models themselves.  Some were kind of pricey, but not the core stuff, and high prices never seem to stop (for ex) Privateer, Wyrd, or GW.

^thanks HS - sounds like a swerve tbh, not that desperate for any of them (other than the massive land ship, I'd love that - I want to model it broken down and sort of becoming a shanty town).

I posted on my blog recently that I bought an extra fine razorsaw, having not had one for a while and necer having such a fine one and it's opened up so many possibilities! I should be painting for LPL, but I'm mostly sawing and pinning

This is a crap picture but this space adbenturer is basically done - body from Brigade, head from the Slap Minis Space Knights, strange 90s hair by me! He's also got a helmet clipped on to his belt at the back - I want to play some strung together, very small skirmish-adventure's (much closer to RPG's) so he's going to crashed land on a planet (in no way an idea nicked off Image comics' Drifter or Prophet), get attacked by beasts, find a companion or two, meet bandits, find a settlement, escape some slavers etc... that type of gaming is really appealing to me at the mo.

Anyhoo, as you were, just a small thing...

Hi all,

Another post-LPL piccie here - fresh from a very fair thrashing by Captain Blood.

These are GZG ORC, great hardsuits - think they could work in pretty 'hard' sci-fi settings or more space opera stuff like mine. Firs of my pics in some scenery too - haven't got much of a backdrop so had to go in for a fairly tight angle on these!

They are lovely (and not just because I love 15mm).

Thanks both!

Here's my latest batch, fresh from LPL (no shame in a defeat by Bugsda!)

I converted the chap in blue on a whim and realised he looked like Tin Tin, so built the rest of the group on a whim to go with him. I'm pleased with them on the whole - not sure the Professor Calculus quite works, and in retrospect the white ties him too much to SN0-WY (looks like a controller), but as Minis to add to my ever burgeoning character and NPC pool they're all great.

T'in T'in (space reporter!) and SN0-WY will feature in some Pulp Alley adventures soon.

Ah very kind, thanks - wish they looked as good as your recent 18mm excursions! Do you just layer, no washes?

Great work usual Jag,
I see that I have more minis to get from GZg & seeing them painted up makes a big difference.
I usually only start to notice the detail when i start painting.

My personal favourites are those yellow armoured ones.

Kudos to the sculptor also.
Keep it up
Z.

Morning all,

Here's my latest entry - definitely not my finest LPL performance, and definitely not the best photo ever, but rightly thrashed - the ww2 scene was excellent.

These are a conversion - Xar bodies on Crusties legs, which I'm very pleased with - I really like the Xar bodies and weapons but don't love the body joint, so nice to find an alternative.

If anyone's read the Prophet comics, these guys are inspired by the bounty hunter tracking him in the first issue - an alien hunting party.
