The construction continues.....

I have now clad the corrugated cardboard core with thinned cardboard and cut out both the horseshoe door and the window.

Great size...and cladding seems to be popular although I suspect mine will be somewhat more expensive ;)

I like where this is going...

Looking good. Interesting entranceway to the forge but very fitting!

I agree. I think the quirky entranceway was what appealed to me most about this model forge. Although I know of other forges/barns that have horseshoe entrances. It seams this was quite common.

How often do your sketches match your buildings?  The reason I ask is that mine always seem to organically grow so they very rarely match my concept art.  Mine always get messier and more lived in.

I would say that my sketches are usually for guidance. Like you my buildings grow organically, a bit like this project, I have already lengthened the building and started to work on a lighted furnace using a battery operated Tea Light.

I am also used to working to very strict commissions - where the details has to be very exact, (for example if building a master for resin casting) but when I build for myself, its just for fun.

I have kept most (if not all) of my sketches, they are rolled up in a cardboard tube in the attic!

If you are interested both of my books Building Wargame Terrain and More Wargame Terrain include sketches.

Regards and good luck with your Aerosled. I think it looks awesome.

I have looked longingly.  Right now I can't justify it to me wife.  If you still have a copy of each when I am a full time employee I will pick them up.

Very interesting core material you are using there tony. It looks a little rougher and quicker than foamcore... mmmm... I look forward to watching how this goes mate. Looks good so far. Good luck with your flickering tea light, im still getting my head around mine, haha.

Cheers
Matt
