[Kickstarter] Barbarian Hordes by Red Box Games
« on: 18 February 2015, 09:37:07 AM »
Tre is at it again with a campaign to unleash some evil barbarian types.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1103158358/barbarian-hordes-by-red-box-games#description

Really like the style of the WIPs and they will go very well to add to my Conan figures when the Monolith campaign delivers.

Nearly funded part-wat through the first day.
Have fun storming the castle! ...and that really isn't me you know...

Gothic Project: leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=55943.0 - although on pause atm as too much RL stuff getting in the way.

Those look pretty cool.  I backed the last KS with the Aenglish and militia and Njord guys, and they turned out quite nice (particularly the militia).  However, the price per model makes it such that I can't afford to jump on every KS Tre does, especially with the Canadian-US exchange rate these days.

I have done it again, pledged at vanguard level, even with a weak euro/dollar exchange and the always present menace of customs. Im still thinking Tre should had been involved in Monolith Conan's boardgame. Almost funded and we have only seen some wip miniatures. Tre has some fans...

Tre always sculpts nice models, but there's too much plate on these for my taste.

A couple of images from some of the figures that will be available. Looking forward to seeing some of the mounted ones (with a dismounted version of each too) and not forgetting a few Jotunn (a giant in Norse mythology).

I could not resist and went in at Vanguard level too. ;D

Great stuff...
Not sure about backing yet, but that's because I spent too much on figs already the last few weeks  :'(.

Yep. Lovely stuff but too pricey for me. Jotunn looks great.

Oh god, he's doing horses again. :'( And more tiny heads with horns sticking out of everything.

Agreed. I just love Tre's sculpting, but can't stand the finished product. Tiny heads, fussy details, and just too damn small. Got the first KS and sold the lot. I wish I could buy everything he makes, but I know I'll never paint it.

I love his orcs and goblins. No worries about small heads on them.

I have never bought any of his stuff, but that is largely due to the hide and seek business of things keep disappearing from the webstore. Hard to buy things when they are not on sale.

Whats wrong with the horses? Too fragile? Hard to paint? This WIP looks very promising, I like the dynamic pose and energy it has, reminds me of a fresco from the Parthenon or something.

Weismonsters: his previous attempts at horses tended to look like his muscular barbarians, complete with 'here are my genitals' stance, and added hooves. :D Part of a strange occurrence I've seen where some top-notch human figure sculptors don't have much of a clue about animal anatomy.
I agree that, on this wee phone screen at least, these latest look like an improvement, though with a couple of 'hmm's. I'll reserve judgement though.

My bigger complaint is $18 for one mini. Ouch.

Same here. His figures fit well with the LotR metal minis and some really old 25mm stuff, but just about nothing else as they're so bloody small. I've bought a few figures where that didn't matter (mainly women), but it really limits which figures of his I can use.
