Miniatures looking great.   :-*

I hope your kids get better soon.

Thanks

Kids were back at school today, so nothing serious. Made my hobbying stall a bit, though - luckily I am only eight models short of a fully functioning SAGA warband, so it should not be too hard to build up motivation for resuming work (although I have some practical stuff that needs tending to this weekend).

Something ailed me this weekend, but now I am back painting again.

First Hirdman/Huskarl/Hearthguard finished.

More pics on the blog.

Thanks, I (optimistically) hope to get two points of Hearthguard ready by the middle of next week - then I have to assemble and paint another dozen or so to get the shield transfers I have used up (I don't want them to go bad).

I kinda like painting these GB minis, so I expect to be able to stick to the plan, unless I suddenly stumble over something really shiny...

Well, the weather permits gardening at the moment, so I spend more time outside than at the pain(t) station, but here is armoured warrior number four, completing my first point of Hearthguard for SAGA (for now).

More pics and a line-up of my Hearthguard so far on my blog.

I begin my 5-night work period tonight, and I don't expect to do much progress until Monday, as the veggie garden still needs some work done to make it read for planting potatoes around April 1st, but we shall see about that...

I had purchased shield transfers prior to having brain surgery back over 2 years ago, then eye had eye issues because of the facial nerve damage from the tumor and on a steroid regimen and healing.  And finally got around to using my transfers this year.  Most or LBMS and are probably 3-4 years old or older.

The warband is looking really good.  I too really enjoy these plastic Gripping Beasts, building them and painting them.

I think most problems with the transfers occur if they are not stored completely dry - if the White backing paper becomes the least damp, the transfer is ruined.

I have had a few where the clear film would not come off, but when I started heating those with issues (with a hair dryer), it seemed to do the trick.

You definitely must keep them dry.  I also find a very sharp xacto #11 helps me with peeling that clear plastic off.

I also use my x-acto for that, but sometimes the plastic sticks.

Thanks, most of it is still just block'n'wash (except spear, base, and shield transfer), but it seems to work fine with these minis.

The wash is probably a bit too heavy on the beard/face, but at an arm's length (and on the table) it'll be OK.

They look very nice.

But I have to ask. Do you only paint one guy at a time!? I would completely loose my mind if I only painted one plastic figure at a time.

No, I sort of paint in batches of 4-8, but after doing most of the basecoating, I then focus on getting one (or two, as in the case of the unarmoured warriors) at a time finished (while dividing drying time among the rest of the batch), that's why they come dripping. I find that being able to finish something often motivates me to keep going.
