Oh, well...  I'll find a use for it. Maybe a template for hexagonal hab-units for some remote colony... (aaarrrghhh.... yet another project  ::) )
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Well, this is beginning to turn into another full-fledged SAGA/GoB-project.

Painting will commence during the weekend, at the very latest.

Got this in the mail today:

And, yes, this means that I'll probably have to divide my hobby-time between knights and vikings. But at least things seem about to begin moving, again...  ::)

I'm absolutely thrilled after having my first read through of Blood Eagle!

The rules may be the ultimate catch-all for painting small groups of minis in almost any hand-weapon-and-shield setting (including fantasy), and being able to get them on the table right away - which is how I prefer painting, as I get easily bored...  ::)

Looking good, how are the Blood Eagle rules? How do they compare to SAGA?

Very different - focus on individual warriors, recommended starting force just a handful of figures. And you have 3 phases: Movement, Shooting, Fighting, in each of which players alternate activating individual figures.

OPEN POINTS SYSTEM:
You can create anything in about any setting I can think of, as long as it uses things that the combattants bash each other with (and/or throws at each other).

I intend to make some warbands for Blood Eagle, the later expand them to SAGA points, and maybe Lion/Dragon Rampant units, and over time finally to God of Battles units to play those massive encounters. But all in due time - right now my focus must be on the warbands.

If you like your games to have an RPG-flavour, with lots of individual character to your warriors, I would recommend it!

Craig Cartnell, one of the authors, is present here on LAF, btw, so it is easy to seek advice about the rules.

I like the rest of the warband but I think it looks a bit weird swinging a daneaxe one handed and holding a shield.

I agree, but he can do that per the rules - he has the trait 'strong', and can wield a two-handed weapon with one hand without any penalties, and I wanted the mini to show it. And as plastics are dirt cheap, even if I am not going to field him for other than Blood Eagle games, it's not a terrible loss  :)

Well, it seems that I have crewmen for 174 points by now, which, for a 200 points warband, gives me 26 points to use on a warrior with a bow - which should be doable (haven't done the calculation, yet, but with light or no armour, no shield, the cost shoudn't go up that fast).

I shall get the Conquest Medieval Archers (as soon as I find a good source), and in the meantime, I'll get the existing crewmembers ready for painting.
