Old school 25mm civilians
« on: February 27, 2015, 06:12:20 PM »
I recently got back into expanding my old west town.  While doing this I was browsing around at miniature lines.  My town is currently populated by the Blue Moon civilians, and the Cowboy Wars line of miniatures.  I have always, however, been a fan of the more light hearted Dixon miniatures.  I've decided to repopulate my town with the Dixon line.  While they have a descent line of civilians, I need more shopkeepers, farmers, and regular folk types.  Are there any recommended lines that have the same old school,  semi-relistc, light hearted (disproportionate) look in the proper scale?

Their not as smooth as Dixon but they mix ok - knuckleduster for all your plain and wacky townsfolk needs. Their pioneer women and working men packs are straight scenery but you can also get can can girls, prospectors, musicians, billiard players and singing cowboys and poker and piano players among a lot of other stuff.
Brigade games US are worth a look too with their Deadwood line.

I've owned Knuckleduster gunfighters and such in the past...I remember them being fairly realistic(?).  I'll take a second look at the civilians.  I do remember them being true 25mm...so they match up petty good for size?

I have found figures from these lines useful for civilians in ACW and Wild West settings.

Look at the figures from Redoubt, Old Glory (ACW civilians pack, wagon train and others), Britannia (may be too chunky for you), Foundry (Western range townsfolk, etc.), First Corps, Bicorne, Artizan, Brigade Games and Knuckleduster.

Hightwise they're similar, knuckledusters are a wee bit slimmer, but not out of scale. I'd post a picture if I could figure out how.
Check out the Westwind/blue moon horror line too - some of their harlots are doing good business in my saloon and there's one with a bottle who makes a nice schoolmarm on the razz. Nice smooth figures.
