My wife bought me this lovely model kit from Forged In battle last Christmas And I have had a couple of days of work
to build and paint this monster "Paper Tiger"
Ratte 1947, super tank (1 x 1,000 tonne super tank, 28cm guns)
Edit: I have chosen to paint my Ratte In the Tri-colour scheme I wanted it to match in with my panzer division late war.

Please enjoy the pictures I will take some more In a suitable background setting With back ground scenery in the future

Does it actually need them?

You're not going to mistake it for a Sherman or similar. :~}

Lovely stuff. An air brush was used for the camo?

Yes I painted with my old Aztec airbrush...looked up some camo patterns for late war period...copied a picture of a tiger tank camo!
[was not sure how to go with it as it would have been a huge monster of a tank...was even thinking of given it a battleship camo scheme]

Nice ! Definitly a weird wolrd war masterpiece too ;)

A battleship grey would have been nice too, to reinforce this mobile fortress feeling.

Well... it is impressive but...

I would have gone for a grayish colour for the waterproof canvas on the gun. They were not painted (I think the paint would have interacted with the chemicals used to waterproof the canvas) on the battleships/cruisers. After all the Ratte turret was a a real turret designed for the Scharnorst Class (there was a surplus when the Gneisnau was decomissioned and some more had been produced anyway and if I am right they ended up in Norway as coastal batteries until the 60s...).

The thing about camo... my take is that they would have been spray painted in one colour.... think of the effort to do the tri colour camo by broom or large hoses on such a beast... (ok filling the petrol tank would have been another big chore... or changing a track...)

Thank you for the information
But as this was a paper tiger so to speak and never left the drawing board I think artistic licence can be used.
I wanted to paint my Ratte different then the battleship grey as that would have been an early war period colour
and if this was ever to be produced[nobody really knows] it would have taken a couple of years to build probably?and the tri-colour pattern would have been used[plus I wanted it to match the rest of my panzer division]
thanks for your input

Arrigo - there's a 1945 version and a 1947 version of this model sold by Forge in Battle. I definitely don't think anyone is going to win an argument on what is correct or not on a largely theoretical beauty (they have painted their 1945 version grey).

...

Maybe just paint it pink to be safe.

Don't forget to apply an historically accurate hello kitty decal, then   :D
