IHMN Rule Question
« on: March 16, 2015, 09:38:34 PM »
Can you please help with a rule Clarification for "In Her Majesty's Name"?

It appears the Movement Phase and the Shooting Phase are two separate phases.  Both players complete movement for their figures before any figures are allowed to shoot.  Is this interpretation of the rules correct?  My confusion comes from the following:

On page 13 in the example on Shooting in italic font the book says that the best tactic is to shoot "At a soldier who hadn't moved yet (remembering that each player moves 1 figure at a time) or at Private Davies who didn't move this turn."

How can you shoot at a figure that hasn't moved yet if players have the opportunity to move all their figures before any shooting is allowed? I understand you can shoot at a figure that didn't move this turn, but shooting at a figure that didn't move YET suggests you can fire during the movement phase (before the figure moves).

Any help please?

The example is an unfortunate carry over from a previous draft which nobody noticed when it went to print..... You are correct, all figures move and then all figures shoot etc. A better version would be to shoot a figure that hadn't shot yet. There is an FAQ on the IHMN blog which covers a lot of these smaller issues.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Dang, Dewbakuk, ya beat me to it! Well here's my 2 cents anyway.

Absolutely correct.

Delete the words shown below in your copy of the rules:

… so the best tactic was for each of them to Shoot at a soldier who hadn’t moved yet (remembering that each
player moves 1 figure at a time) or at
Private Davies who didn’t move this turn.

Thanks to both of you.  I'll look into the errata.

Thanks for answering that chaps.

IHMN was written without the assistance of independent reviewers like Dewbakuk. A mistake we did not repeat with HVF or SDRS. Our apologies  :D
