Well done everyone - particularly Overlord. The range of entries (theme and composition) was refreshing.

I had lots of fun. Will be back next year/time.

Once again congrats to everybody and in particular to James for pulling all this together in such a difficult time (house moving is stressful)

Couple of observations

1. The voting turn out was really poor - 124 voters from 5000 members on the LAF - its a shame these competitions cant be given greater prominence.
2. The voting was really tight at the top with only one vote between the top two - I wonder whether results might have been different if we could only exercise one vote or alternatively see the top two go into a shoot out?
3. Finally my only real gripe was seeing the voting results after I had voted - much better and to maintain suspense if this had been hidden until right at the end

Cheers folks

Well done everyone. Very close at the top. Great quality builds all round. I really liked Dr Zombie's heap - I don't think the eventual vote count for that piece reflected the fact that it was a very nicely made piece of scenery. Just that there was a lot of stiff competition.

I trust you will all at least vote in the upcoming Lead Painters League when it kicks off season 9 in a week and a bit's time. Or better still, participate!  :D (I do appreciate you've been busy building something...   ;))

I agree Giles, 120-odd voters from a 5,000+ membership feels a bit feeble and hardly a great reflection of the wonderful work put in by all concerned.
The LPL normally attracts 400-500 voters on each round (so much higher, but still less than 10%). Well, we'll see what happens this time round...

To be fair, many of the 5,000 are dormant members, even with the Prof's regular culling of the membership list of people who have been inactive for years... I actually doubt LAF has more than a couple of thousand 'active' members. And many of them will not have visited in weeks. (Although I could be completely wrong on that).
But even so. You have a point.

More publicity next time  :)

I shall most definitely vote in the LPL but because my figure painting is awful - think three year old with a roller - I'll pass and gaze enviously at those far more talented with the sable than I

Well done to everyone and especially the top placed. There's some great terrain pieces there. I've often wondered how many active members the LAF has as it's often the same few hundred names you keep seeing.

A very close contest.  :o

Well done to everyone that entered.  A great selection of entries with a real variety of ideas.  Proves the topic was wide enough to include a good mix of genres/periods.

The voting doesn't tend reflect the quality of so many entries, as only 3 can be chosen.  It means very good builds can end up with few votes, not because they are so inferior, but because the general quality is so high.  My own shortlist included half a dozen submissions and it was very difficult to reach a final three.  Winning with just over 12% of the votes cast proves how close a contest it was.

The total number of voters is rather low, but I agree that although we seemingly have over 5000 members, the active membership is far lower.  You cannot force people to vote and the contest was linked to from the front page.  Thank you to those that did take the time to vote.

A big thank you to James for running the contest, particularly when he was so busy personally. 8)
