Sci-Fi terrain thing from a catalytic converter cover
« on: April 10, 2015, 06:02:13 AM »
So, this fell off my car today. Told it's not a big deal as it's more of a heat sink for the catalytic converter. I live in Canada, so for the month of July/August, it might cause issues, but probably not.

Thinking it might look good on a Sci-Fi table.
Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

Could work for a bunker or hive type thing.

It's amazing what one can find.  8)

Something falls of the car and you imediately think "that would make some nice terrain".

Careful now.
The catalytic convertor gets hot, really hot. (working t° starts at 250°C and optimal t° is about 450°C)
While that won't pose a problem for the convertor, you might want to watch out where you park your car. Tall dry grass could catch fire...
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons,
for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Yeah, Puuka if you google images for 'catalytic converter heat shield' you'll find they look pretty much like that.

It was more of a "Aw crap. How much is that going to cost?" take pics to show mechanic brother in law, then think, "This would be cool, waste not want not."

I live in the city. Not much chance of parking in grass.
