I managed to get to the Legionary Show at Exeter yesterday. It was a good show and I will post some photos later. It was a real pleasure to meet up with Doug from em4 miniatures (a really  spiffing chap) and have a chat. Did I persuade you to start playing Pulp Alley?  I’ve had my eye on Doug’s Walled Farm for some time and now Much-Piddling is under construction, I thought a Devon village definitely needs a farm. I didn’t realise quite how big it was and at Doug’s show price this is a real bargain, you get a lot of building for your money. I managed to get it back to the car without dropping any of the boxes!

So it’s unpacking time this morning……

The barn……..

The stable…………

The cottage…………

The gate house…….

All together, the farm at Much-Piddling farmed by Farmer Stanley Featherstonehaugh Ukridge…

Roofs removed for gaming………….

The village pub and the farm…………

Some of the locals at ‘early doors’…………..

Snapcase and Mainwaring discussing the weather, “unseasonable for the time of year, don’t you think?”…………

The local butcher delivers the pub meat…………..

Farmer’s got a new tractor……………

……….and Michelle of ze resistance and Officer Crabtree capture the painting of The Fallen Madonna with the big boobies!

So, next steps:
•   Finish the pub
•   Corner Shop ordered from Sally 4th
•   Sort out some roads
•   Get some Sally 4th terraced houses

Very good to meet up with you too, Sir...!

I intend having a game of Pulp Alley - I've got a table set up and scenario idea in my head. Fortune card deck is printed so there's really no excuse. I intended to have a quick solo run-through today but you know, after doing the show, driving back last night, having far too many glasses of wine and then unloading the car this morning, I'm taking the easy way out and catching up on the forums instead.

I'm glad you're happy with the farm - it's a very useful bit of scenery and, by adding other walls, fences etc, it has almost infinite possible variations of layout. It was funny to see the large ""M" on each of the boxes in yout photo -we'll have to let people puzzle over what on earth they are for.... ;) I took 3 farm sets with me and they all sold so there should be another 2 happy gamers in the Exeter area this morning, gloating over their farms... :D

Once again, good to meet up. Why is it that all the gamers who play games I'd like to try live too far away? Our local club is excellent and we have some damn fine chaps but they do tend to favour 7 Years War with incomprehensible WRG rules rather than skirmish/rpg-lite which I've become more and more attracted to... :(

Ah! A man after my own heart!  ;)

Glad to hear you are going to give Pulp Alley a go. I am very pleased with the farm, all sorts of scenarios are going through my head. I have been re-reading your blog on Sir Gilbert Hill which I very much enjoy and is actually to blame for me considering starting a VBCW force of my own. I already have the cricket team but not painted yet (looking at the Woodbine Design stuff at the moment). I meant to talk to you about VBCW yesterday and completely forgot, the usual senior moment!

I am sure they will be!

Doug, I'll send you a PM about maybe meeting up for a game later in the year?

Who makes a cricket team?
I am planning to make a kit for a cricket pavillion as part of my 1930's photo realistic range, so will need to get a team to paint up for a photo shoot!

These are great figures from Sloppy Jalopy, Chris:

Some great photos of them in action here:

Looking forward to seeing your cricket pavilion; scoring hut and scoreboard as well?

Also, have a look at this post, brilliant conversions.

Eureka have also just released some naked cricketers, not sure how well that will go down with the Much-Piddling WI!

They look fantastic, I think that the cricket pavillion might have edged a little bit higher up the to to list!

Well played, old boy! Looking forward to seeing the cricket angle develop. All we need now is some spectators asleep in deckchairs after their lunchtime cider!

If  you are looking for some ideas you could take a gander at a pavilion I made last year.  http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=67484.0

Hope it helps.

Hu Rhu,
Thanks for that, some lovely stuff on your thread. That pavilion looks spot-on! I love the way you made the roller, I definitely have to copy that.

Looking great.

One of our guys has got that farm from Em4 - isn't a very nice bit of kit. I keep looking at it at shows and persuading myself that I really haven't got any more space to store terrain. I know I'm going to succumb to temptation some day!

Martin - I advise succumbing to the temptation (of course I'm not biased :D ) - stocks are not unlimited and I very much doubt there'll be a second production run. Only three shows left this year that we are booked into so opportunities are limited - go on, spoil yourself.

By the way - I've taken the liberty of inserting a tiny word into your quote (in red). I'm hoping that's what you actually meant.... ;)
