Ok, spent a good 20 mins on this, do they work now?  >:(

Yes!  Thanks - looks like fun.

Sorry it took me a few days, still have the one assignment to finish up.

Deployment. Saurians (Corporation) on the right, Daleks (Forge Fathers) on the left.

Benny's Space Wolf Dreadnought stands in until the Dalek Strider is built.

Daleks conquer and destroy!

Saurian Officer and Heavy Weapon Team

Saurian Mercs and Strider

More Mercs.

Squads advance around the central building.

The Saurian Strider blasts away part of the Dalek Heavy Weapon team. My one decent shot of the day.

Return fire blows the Strider away in one shot.

Me moving my units around for the hell of it. I was spaced out on my meds all day and didn't make very smart decisions.

Saurian support re-positions.

The Dalek strider opens fire.

The Saurian Votom does not survive.

Daleks vs Saurians. Your new desktop wallpaper.

Saurian fire is utterly ineffective against Dalek casing.

I finally manage to kill some Daleks.

Dalek return fire is pretty brutal.

The Mercs wither under Dalek crossfire.

Saurian missile fire is ineffective.

The day ends early with Dalek victory.

My opponent played well and I was off my face, so I don't want to judge too harshly, but the Forge Fathers seem like a pretty brutal list. I'll discuss it more in my Firefight thread.

I've painted up some old Heroclix as alien civilians:

Hope to god that works for once.  :?

Also, I find myself immersed in conundrum, as Spider-man would have it; I'm now in the placement part of my course, so my level of homework has gone down and free time gone up, so I'm keen to smash out as much hobby stuff as possible. Given that the Saurians are nearly finished, the obvious step is to jump onto the Universal Church of Truth or another army, however, I find myself a bit reluctant to go down that road until Firefight is out of Beta.
Now, I started SF stuff again despite not having rules to play with, but now that I have Judge Dredd, Firefight and AE-40K, I find that I'm slightly reluctant to just do whatever I feel like knowing that I'll probably have to change it down the track. For example, I'll eventually need to add radio troopers to each Saurian squad for Firefight. With so much stuff waiting for paint, it seems like a waste of time to leave it alone, but is it better to just have to re-do it in a few months?
As I said, immersed in conundrum.  ???

It worked.

Regarding your first-world crisis, I say paint what the mood tells you to paint. You'll churn out a heck of a lot more (like these colourful guys).

Put the finishing touches on this squad last night, a Saurian Breaching Squad. Not sure if they'll see much action in games, but when I saw these parts for sale from Victoria Miniatures, I felt that it was a team that had to be made. I imagine that their role is to board enemy ships and storm fortifications, hence the ceramite shields and close-range weaponry.

This leaves only a Colour Sergeant, Intelligence Liaison, the Psychic Choir (5 non-Saurian allies), a spacecraft, an artillery vehicle and the last Votom to finish for the army. I think I could be posting finished pictures by the end of the year!

Back again! Progress has been slow as I await the final version of the Firefight rules (hopefully coming soon to my email inbox).

Finished this morning:

Saurian Combat Engineer and helper robots. Mainly there to operate as a Tech-Priest in 40k games, the Engineer may also see play as an NPC and occasionally in Firefight.

Nice. Where are the little guys from and what colour(s) did you use for his skin?

Bomb disposal bot is from Eureka, others are Reaper Chronoscope.

I believe the skin was bone basecoat, white highlight and sepia wash.

What's this, am I having a good week or something.  ;D

Second (and final) VOTOM Squad:

Mostly serving as Striders for Firefight, they may get a 40K game before the year is out. Pretty decent minis for under $4AUD a piece.

Yeeeeahhhhh - nice one. I picked up a few in Japan earlier in the year. You can't beat that price and you've shown they can be built into dynamic poses - so that's given me hope they will be better than I thought.

I've been printing alternative guns for mine and turning the backpack vents into weapon mounts and once you can really get the weapon into a good two handed pose they can get into some really nice poses.

Been cranking away at stuff for Firefight now that I have the final army lists (rules are in the proofreading stage). The big Zombies are "Leapers", heavy infantry for the Plague army, mostly heroclix and scratch builds.
Caved in and bought a couple of Miniature Scenery ATVs because the Saurians needed some transport. Pretty decent kits for $18 worth of lasercut wood, and my bits box provided enough extras to get them up to scratch. Still feeling that the sides are a bit sparse though.
