{Strange Aeons} The Goodguys.
« on: October 12, 2008, 05:38:33 AM »
Just finished painting up the first two Agents for the top secret government agency: Threshold. Hope to have a couple pix. in the next couple days. I'm quite happy with the sculpts (Thanx Kyla!) and the casts (if I can toot my own horn...) They are basically Mulder and Scully 1920's style. And I should have the last sculpt from that pack molded next week(ish). The chappy looks quite a lot like Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle brandishing a pistol and clutching some eldritch tome so that should be fun to paint! And then I thought to myself why not ask those fellows over on that forum who they would like to see sculpted up. And so I did...who would make a cool 1920's goodguy? Obviously Lovecraft and Houdini...so I could play Necronauts at home...but who else? Who?

You opened the post with a teaser and then announced a delay for the pics - shame on you.

There can never be enough Fu Manchu's and how about a young Austrian with Chaplain moustache?

Moulder and Scully should have a young Winston Churchill to assist them too.

Obvious choices for 1920s good guys would be square-jawed, two-fisted types - Brendan Fraser in the Mummy movies ?

Left Field options : Charlie Chaplin himself ? Rudolf Valentino ? Lawrence post-Arabia (complete with motorbike) ? Manly reporters like Hemingway ? Agatha Christie ? Federico Garcia Lorca ? A younger Rick Blaine from Casablanca ? Freud ?

Charlie Chaplin himself ? Rudolf Valentino ?

If we're going with movies, an actor like Douglas Fairbanks (Senior or Junior, they were both pretty nimble) would get my vote. A ready made action hero.  :)

Or, have both of them, a father and son team of Actors-by-Day-Investigators-by-Night, playboy detective types.

How about a pair of Jeeves and Wooster types? One a complete ass (but lucky!!) and a world wise butler always ready for a scrap to thwart the dark forces?

Perhaps a few unlucky explorer-types with some rifles and Tommy-guns? Not sure what time the newest King Kong movie takes place but it's definitely close to the 20's, but maybe a few guys like the ship crew? A not-Gumby(sp?) would be ace.

How about Biggles? He'd be looking for adventure after the war and his pilot skills would be useful.

Captain George S Patton also springs to mind - he was also a real adventurer who was relatively unoccupied in the 20s and would only have been in his late 30s or early 40s.

Some great ideas there. I'll pass the names on to the sculptor and we will see which she chooses. I'm all for Patton if I get my choice...although an Edgar Cayse figure would be great stuff also. Any more for any more?

Mike,

When do you expect your rules to be availble for order?

I'm getting anxious to spend some money...

...I'm getting anxious to make some money...

Seriously thou, The rules are finished, the book should be typeset by the end of the week...still gotta get a couple of the first release figures molded/cast/painted for pictures in the rulebook. And then I have to get the packaging squared away...and find a reasonable print shop...To be honest the process is taking longer than I had hoped, but it should all be worth it in the end...when that end will be is still up in the air unfortunatly. I'm gonna say that you won't get it in time for X-mas but with any luck you should be able to get it by Lovecrafts Death Day next year. That is the date I would like (March 15) but again not everything is how I like it.

Hope to have some page teasers on the Website as soon as the book is done...once you see the layout you will want a copy for sure! It looks so f@#$in' good!!!

Thanx for the interest, sorry about the wait.
