I DL'ed those devils run rules the other day and they look interesting. They inspired the sort of rules I will snot up for my 6mm mad max project.

They seem to be a 'Thunder Alley Advanced' set.  With my collection already it's still quite playable without buying the game I think.

Came across these figs and rules from Rebel minis today

Figures are not the greatest, but it's pretty much exactly what you're looking for in terms of the rules and subject

A few years ago we used a modified Gorka Morka rule set and it worked pretty well:

If you are interested I can send you the bare boned rules, just pm me.

Here are some pictures (inculding the west wind bikers)

We revived it a two years ago, which led to:

At the moment I'm looking at putting everything together once more and turn all the rules in a useable document. (Something to do in the holiday ;) )
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

I've just found the Thunder Road rules... no idea if they're of any use.

I might have posted this here at Lead Ad, but here's my response to a similar question on a different forum.
Quote
My club has done alot of mad-max type gaming over the years.  There are lots of great post-apoc rulesets, but finding one that makes vehicular and melee combat work in the same 28mm  game is a bit more challenging.  2 suggestions for you.

Nuclear Renaissance- This free ruleset by Ramshackle games has an excellent balance between vehiclular combat and man-to-man combat.  The "Tome of Triddlins" expansion is not quite as well done, but it adds alot of great wasteland tropes and features to the game and is well worth the $8 or so that the PDF costs. http://www.ramshacklegames.co.uk/nuclear/downloads.html
Ramshackle also makes an excellent selection of post-apoc vehicles that really fit the mad-max aesthetic. You can see the AAR's from some of our NucRen games here:
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/search?q=nuclear

The other ruleset that we used to play quite a bit is Wastelands.  It's also free and gone through quite a few revisions over the years.  You can find the latest version here:
http://s1.zetaboards.com/Post_Apoc_Wargames/forum/996833/
The forum at the like is entirely devoted to post-apoc wargaming and definitely worth a look.

I used to use it to run an Mad Max "Road Warrior" type of scenario game at conventions.  A 14 foot long board made for quite an event.

Post apoc is, IMHO one of the best genres for mix and max DIY kind of gaming.  There aren't many popular minis/rules/fluff package games that really capture the feel, but there are quite a few companies making suitable post-apoc miniatures.
-Ramshackle games (also has the best range of post-apoc vehciles and parts around)
-EM4
-Kalistra
-Lead Adventure
-Reaper
… just to name a few.

Also, the plentiful nature of cheap 1/43 die cast cars means that the options for conversion are numerous.

I've blogged quite a few of my creations, but my favorite is still my take on the Mad Max V8 interceptor.
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2012/04/last-v8-interceptor.html

Lastly, if you'd rather do a smaller scale (Hot wheels are aprox 20mm scale), then the suggestions above such as Car Wars or Warlands are good ones.  For a nice rolling-road kind of game, also check out the rules and vehicle-how-to's at Iron Hands/Necromundicon.

Enjoy!

Also, wargames Factory is coming out with a set of plastic bikers and bikes.
http://wargameterrain.blogspot.com/2015/04/wargames-factory-exclusive-plastic.html

I'm pretty excited about this as it reportedly has more riders than bikes so I'll be able to build them up and get some riders on my extra Hot Wheels bikes.

Axels and Alloys is a great free gameset. The only downside is there are no pedestrian rules. GorkaMorka had a great set of rules for a chase scenario that used moving terrain.

If anyone is interested in experimenting with Car Wars to game the Mad Max movies, I wrote a blog post that might be helpful.

It's my preferred version of car wars and lends itself to a smaller table as weapon ranges are much shorter overall.  I HIGHLY recommend C&C over straight CW.

hey,

Maybe I'm a bit late to get in on this. But I am looking for a fast playing car combat game where you can build you're own cars and play on an open table, not on a track or board. It' really doesn't have to include rules for pedestrians or even crews.

I have been looking at wasterland 3 and it looks god, but does anyone have any other (preferably free or cheap) rules that do the trick? oh, and playable with cars like hotwheels :)

It's a big list of preferences, but any help would be grately appreciated

Greetings,
Zeebeest
