Hah. I thought when I saw the first set of photos that the windows on the Hind were covered in old toilet seats. I see now you were more sensible than that.

Only a little, but now you've given me the idea....

It's not big, or clever, but let's do it anyway

Wonderfull build as always Clanmac! But I really miss a certain amount of barbed wire. That would fit perfect to the scene imo

Yep, it's a very good point. Will have to add it at the end though as it always makes painting a real pain.

This is coming out exceptionally well.

And 'Thank You' for the tip-off with the AC units, that is a great source.

Fantastic! I even spotted some CD ammo boxes in there. I’ve got some air con units and junction boxes out on 01 Jan that might be useful for you too.

Oh there are a few CD bits from my latest order tucked away in here. I've just added some of your CCTV cameras in too, and rest assured, if you dangle junction boxes in front of me, my wallet won't be far behind. Just looking for an excuse to expand an order beyond your scooter gang, as I need a couple of scooters knocking around Junktown.

Glad to see the Pardulon stuff coming back - I had to make some molds for my own use when I couldn't get the pieces anymore, and it will be good to get a decent casting again.

A couple of people asked about a walkthrough on the rust technique. While I did one some time ago, Photobucket killed it off I think so I am going to have another go, using a couple of bits from the Junktown Main Gate - the containers and the Hind.

First couple of steps

An overall spray using brown car paint. Cheap and effective. On top of that goes a light overspray of black or dark brown to give variation.  Dead easy and yet can look quite effective. I'm sure if I had an airbrush I could get slicker but you'd be surprised how much you can do with a couple of cheap spray cans.

Then a quick spray of cheap hairspray and a smattering of salt for heavily rusted areas. So we get...

Then I block in the colours for the main areas. Don't have to be too accurate or consistent here. In fact if the paint varies in thickness it actually helps as it adds to the worn feel at the end.

Then apply a little water and some gentle brushing off with a tooth brush. And without too much work the basic rust effects are already in place.

Next steps to follow soon.

Thanks for this!
Looking forward to your next steps. I've been wondering how you do your rust for a while now.

Great tutorial, think I've heard hairspray used for rust effects before but now I finally understand the method! Is the brown car primer significantly cheaper than miniature primers?

I just caught up with this thread and stay amazed with what can be achieved with skill and imagination!
And it is obvious that you have plenty of both! Many congrats!
