List of 15mm Science Fiction Manufacturers.
« on: June 08, 2015, 10:05:14 AM »
Due to the sudden increase in interest in 15mm sci fi, I decided it'd be pretty cool if there was a thread that people on this forum could access which provides a list of 15/18mm manufacturers (both large and small) that could prove useful for 15mm adventures, as well as a few blogs, and even 28mm manufacturers who produce monsters/creatures that would make nice standins for alien fauna and flora!

U.K Manufacturers/Distributors!

http://www.groundzerogames.co.uk/
Perhaps the best known 15mm sci fi company on the block! Ground Zero Games have been recently releasing new 15mm figures to replace the much older figures that were around during the 90s on top of new releases including character packs and new vehicles/mechs! GZG has a huge range of figures, ranging from character packs, aliens, mercenaries, frontier colonials, space explorers and entire ranges of military forces with differing levels of technology. Similarly GZG has a huge range of vehicles, with a range of different styles which have been listed by what form of propulsion they utilise, ranging from wheeled to Grav to walkers.
Primarily these are military in nature, but there is a growing range of vehicles for civilian or industrial settings. There are also mechs, UAVs to assist your armies/explorers. GZG also has a nice range of buildings, scenery bits such as crates and extras (doors, windows etc) to customize your structures.

http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/index.html

For 15mm sci fi, Brigade models primarily deals in producing a wide range of 15mm resin military vehicles and buildings ideal for advanced or arid settlements. These are extremely simple models to put together and paint and work very well with other manufacturers minis. Brigade have recently been redoing their range of 15mm vehicles, as the older range (which in some parts still exist) tended towards being a bit small, and were likely coming to the end of their shelf life. Recently Brigade Models has dipped into producing its own 15mm figures, including a few lovely sets of alien characters (very good for not-Tattooine), but also advanced military types. Brigade models have also recently purchased the Armies Army 15mm miniatures line, which fit in perfectly with GZG figures, but again are effectively military forces of differing styles.

http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/

Although it may come as a surprise Old Crow Models are still in business! However now in order to ask for whats available and to set up a purchase you have to get in touch with the company via the email attached to the site. Old Crow still produces the same resin vehicles, buildings and metal miniatures that were in production prior to the original site being made defunct. Furthermore new models have been added including a modular vehicle that can have sections and weapons ordered separately so you can have it whichever way you wish!

http://www.criticalmassgames.com/
Critical Mass Games is perhaps the only company that produces a not just one but three comprehensive ranges of Aliens that have a wide variety of accompanying vehicles so you can outfit your army; such as their Protolene Khanate faction (Humanoid Jackals dudes). Critical Mass also have their compulsory human army, known as the ARC fleet, which have an array of very nice Grav vehicles and infantry. On top of this, there is a sizable range of mercenary soldiers, vehicles and mechs (there is also a mech workshop for buying mech parts), including a number of packs of various alien characters perfect for RPGs. NOTE: Although I personally use CMG 15mm with my GZG and other manufacturers, albeit in different armies, CMG figures are much finer 15mm figures, and are likely closer to 15mm than GZG, Armies Army or Brigade Models.

http://www.armiesarmy.com/shop/
Armies Army is a fairly new kid on the block concentrating (since selling of the majority of his figure ranges to Brigade) on 15mm sci fi vehicles. Thus far these vehicles have largely tended towards a Neo-Soviet/Russian character, with a number of vehicles being a off-shoot of the BTR-60 or BTR series, whilst other vehicles such as the Kurganet, and the Borgatyr are futuristic versions of Russian Federation vehicles that recently appeared trundling about on Red Square  ;). Armies Army plans to have a small range of futuristic Russian-esque insurgents in the future, alongside an expanded range of vehicles dealing with other sci fi vehicles likely with influence from other cultures.

http://www.ainsty-castings.co.uk/
Around a year ago, Ainsty began producing Blower Tanks from the Hammer Slammers series, these new Blowers are much larger than the Blowers produced by Old Crow, apparently meeting the intended size as explained in the fluff. Ainsty have recently began producing vehicles for other factions (such as the addition of half track vehicles) and have a number of different sets of decals for your vehicles that have some connection to the Hammer Slammers fluff. Some of Ainsty's 28mm scenery may also be useful for 15mm scenery.

http://www.15mm.co.uk/
They have Oods! What more could you want! 15mm.co.uk is a haven for lots of characterful, chunky sci fi figures either to populate some post apocalyptic planet, a space port, city etc. Not necessarily veering towards building entire armies (though there is nothing stopping you and I'd say many would be excellent for insurgencies) these are mostly aimed towards RPGs and small skirmish games. 15mm.co.uk also has a number of highly characterful vehicles that you won't find anything similar to elsewhere. This is also the home to Loud Ninja Games who produce the lovely Yan-Drassi (inspired by Halo but clearly unique enough not to be considered 'not-Covenant') the Ikwen (amphibious insurgents) and Space Raptors... with Lazorz.

http://theionage.com/
Apart of 15mm.co.uk but with a separate site, Ion age, as you can guess by the name, is completely dedicated to this particular franchise. That said these figures fit in well with the other manufacturers, and even if the Space Knights and Goblins vibe doesn't take your fancy, then the array of interesting vehicles and Retro building pieces certainly should! Some very nice Armoured Power suits as well! Very cheap in comparison to other manufacturers. NOTE: 15mm.co.uk are on the much larger chunkier side of 15mm, furthermore do be aware that the Resin used for vehicles/buildings does need washing, don't leave them out anywhere exceedingly hot, or apply paintstripper, as I've heard it can warp the material

http://thesceneuk.com/
The Scene mostly deals with 15mm scenery, this ranges from shanty buildings, basic desert abodes, WW2/Cold War military huts, and building accessories/extras as well as stowage. However, The Scene also produces a number of boats; the majority owing a 'post-apocalyptic' character, with others being more historical/modern. The Scene also produces a small range of figures, including Robotic skeletons, Zombie-Apoc Survivors, Men in Black, Post-Apoc bikers, and some Alien animals. Also a number of generic heavy weapon sets.

http://www.cpmodelsminiatures.co.uk/
A small range of 15mm sci fi characters, including Assassins, Ship Crews, robots, Squats etc. Also plenty of monsters from the other lines (such as Night Terrors line) would make excellent critters for Alien Planets.

http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/antenocitis.html
Antenociti produces a small range of Sci Fi vehicles, which are downsized versions of their famous G.O.T line. Antenociti also holds the 15mm FATC not-Aliens APC line, although it is currently unavailable for purchase. Furthermore, Antenociti produces a range of accessories for your 15mm buildings, such as doors, vents, windows of different styles etc as well as crates, solar panels, and a laser-cut MDF habitat kit.

http://www.blackhat.co.uk/online_shop/
Although Black Hat sold of its 15mm Miniatures line a while back, its 18mm Martian Empires line is perfect for low tech Alien civilisations/creatures. Its musket touting Lizardmen and Martians would be great for encounters with explorers.

http://whitedragonminiatures.co.uk/index.php
Although the website is currently under construction. White Dragon does have a facebook site where you can check updates on their newest 15mm sci fi range (https://www.facebook.com/WhiteDragonMiniatures?ref=hl). A new kid on the block when it comes to 15mm sci fi, nonetheless the range being offered on their kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1393708645/marine-tactical-unit-15mm-scale-miniatures) looks very, very promising!

http://www.fighting15sshop.co.uk/
U.K stockist of Oddzial Osmy figures, with 15mm cyber ghouls, vampires, Vistula legion, Space Hussars, Worms and Insurgents, and Eureka's Ventaurans and Space Germans.

http://totalsystemscenic.com/product-category/qrf/sci-fi/
Some fairly old figures that tend towards the Not-Alien/pred scene with some triffids lurking about. QRFs sci fi range also tends to reuse/modify items from its moderns/ww2 ranges. For instance, the sci fi vehicles are a mixture of Modern U.S LAVs and WW2 German scout vehicles.

U.S Manufacturers/Distributors!

http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/
Khurasan Miniatures has one of the largest sci-fi and fantasy ranges in 15mm available from the States. Amongst the most notable of Khurasans ranges are the ranges influenced by Alien, such as the Huntarr (Preds) Space Demons (Alien) and Federation Defence Forces (Colonial Marines) and Squats/Space Dwarves and Khurasan's hefty line of beautifully detailed resin vehicles, my personal favourite being the Federation vehicles. Another extremely characterful line of figures are the Jasmine Throne Alien legion. Khurasan also does a nice line of Post-Apocalyptic figures, very loosely based on the Fallout/Mad Max/Zombie franchises. There are plenty of bugs, dinosaurs, alien monsters and demons to populate your universe as well.

http://www.rebelminis.com/eafowiclba.html

Rebel minis have a lovely range of Alien infantry types of various species, with their own Alien 'Foreign Legion' in the form of the PanGalactics. Rebel minis have a large range of mechs to choose from, the largest in the U.S. There is a lovely range of creepy crawlies to infest your planets, as well as Rebels own human soldiers, which include Earth Force, a large military force with everything you need to wage intergalactic war (arty, drop troops, gunships etc) the Sahadeen an Arid Desert/Apocalyptic insurgency force, and the Titan Marines; an impressive bunch of Gas-mask 'not-German stormtroopery' types. Rebels Horror and Modern ranges are also very good for sci fi, including all sorts of zombies, werewolves, gangsters, gunmen, survivors etc!

http://clearhorizonminiatures.com/shop/
Clear Horizon miniatures are a company worth keeping an eye on; producing the only 15mm Drop pods in existence, and includes a lovely range of sci-fi special operations figures. Clear Horizon produce a number of characterful extras, in the form of warbots/mercenaries that would be great extras for your criminal underworlds, frontier planets, or insurgent forces. CH also has one of the larger selections of VTOLs and Gunships, and is expanding into producing some of the loveliest detailed fighting machines available, some designs being effectively unique in the 15mm and 28mm sci fi miniature scene I.E the Apocalypse Class Super Heavy Tank  :-*.

http://www.splinteredlightminis.com/
Although Splintered Light produces the largest range of 15mm Fantasy figures out there (and some of the nicest fantasy figures too!) it goes without saying that many of these figures, especially the animal ranges would fit in perfectly for 15mm sci fi. Furthermore do a small selection of Post-Apocalyptic, Pulp and Sci-fi Character sets.

http://www.darkeststargames.com/

Darkest Star Games tends towards being more retro/traditional sci fi, with a good pinch of hard sci fi slapped into the mix. Perhaps the most notable range by Darkest Star is their Spec Sec range, which takes its influences from Ghost in the Machine, and maybe a bit of Appleseed; primarily an urban military-police vs rampant cyborgs and criminals. They also produce a range of civi vehicles to accompany said setting. Colony 15 is more about characters in a retro setting, with wild western laser touting colonials, mysterious mutant/Alien Zonii that take influences from New Zealand Maori, and power armoured pirates/Government forces. Dark Star 15mm sci fi, offers its own 15mm range of infantry figures, again retroish, with Ventauran marines (that fit in well with Eurekas Ventaurans) Drop-Grav tank/Apc hybrids, and more traditional tracked/wheeled vehicles, ideal for any space faring military.

http://www.mechafront.com/15mm.html
15mm scale Mechs!!!!! Mecha front has run two very successful kickstarters in the past, and the products are now available via mechafronts website. These are very hefty figures! And some would probably fit in nicely with 28mm, due to their size! Currently 12 mechs/variants are available from 3 different factions/styles with more on their way!

http://www.gcmini.com/
A growing range of some superb 15mm sci fi MDF kits; some pretty big buildings aiming towards a more advanced urban setting! Great for futuristic cities! Your go to company if you want cheap sci fi/moderns buildings!

http://combatwombatminiatures.com/
Producer of a wide variety of very cheap, robust resin vehicles, as well as brass barrels. If you want to equip your sci fi armies/colonies with a large amount of basic armoured/utility vehicles, this is the place to go! (Once the molds have been refitted at least). CURRENTLY OFFLINE I believe you now have to contact combatwombat for business as the owner is currently busy with other more pressing affairs!

http://acpgames.com/
Possibly better known for their recent Vanir Dropship Kickstarter. ACP Games also produce a small range of 15mm sci fi vehicles and figures! Aside from Humans in heavy combat armour, ACP also produce an interesting range of Aliens called the Makat who use a wide range of Drones and armoured infantry.

http://www.architectsofwar.com/
Home to All Quiet on the Martian Front if Alternative Great War/War of the Worlds isn't your thing, the Martians and other Alien creatures are still useful for more futuristic settings as Alien factions or civilizations.

http://shop.hydraminiatures.com/index.php?cPath=50_51
Hydra Miniatures, although well known for their retro 28mm figures, also produce a small albeit highly detailed range of fine 15mm Aliens called the Akarr; essentially retroish, humanoid warrior race wielding alot of sharp close combat weaponry wearing shoulder guards and a loincloth.

https://www.bluemoonmanufacturing.com/index.php?cat_id=42

A large range of VERY Retro sci fi Aliens and humans, as well as buildings and vehicles (the strangest out there). The 15mm figures would be excellent for Alien Flora-Fauna, mini factions for RPGs, Mercenaries etc. Very detailed, more on the 18mm side. Each pack tends to be a platoon of one particular species/faction; there is no specific faction ranges, or many packs relating to each other, opening it up to the possibilities.

http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=GRAV I don't know much about RAFMs 15mm figures, other than I heard they were old Traveller miniatures. Nonetheless, some nice characterful figures, despite clearly being quite old! Occasionally some new stuff appears. The Cthulhu monsters would be pretty cool for extra-terrestrial juggernauts out to eat your face too.

http://www.onslaughtmini.com/
Although Onslaught are primarily targeting the 6mm Epic-Proxy market, they have recently set up pre-orders/releases detailing their new 15mm miniature packs! These currently involve the Amphibian/Frog like Necalli warriors in battle armour, and the Sisterhood Themis Squad, the latter being inspired by that other 28mm sci fi manufacturer  ;)

http://www.bombshellminis.com/
15mm sci fi babes! Although undoubtedly the smallest 15mm miniatures range currently in existence Bombshells 'Microbabes' are still highly detailed with some film/series references  :). That being said, Counterblasts 28mm robots/machine faction are also ideally suited for 15mm as vehicles/larger bots.

OTHER 15MM SCI FI SOURCES AND MATERIALS

http://dropshiphorizon.blogspot.co.uk/
Dropship Horizon has been around for quite awhile, and is in a way the 15mm sci fi information hub. The blog posts fairly regular updates on new 'goings-on' in the 15mm sci fi industry, whether that be upcoming kickstarters, new products or sales!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Stargrunt2/834485293289059/?notif_t=like
Facebook discussion group, this similarly reveals new products in the works, or conversions but is primarily a group to discuss new themes/ideas or items. However due to it being facebook, there is no archive or way to save discussions, so its very much a discussion on the fly.

OTHER MINIATURE COMPANIES OF DIFFERENT SCALES THAT MAY BE USEFUL FOR 15MM]OTHER MINIATURE COMPANIES OF DIFFERENT SCALES THAT MAY BE USEFUL FOR 15MM

http://otherworldminiatures.co.uk/
Although aimed at 28mm fantasy RPGs, the bugs/pests/swarms, wildlife encounters, dungeon denizens and sealife creatures I use as large 15mm monstrosities for my alien worlds or post-apoc planets!

http://www.dp9.com/
Heavy Gear Blitz. Although technically 12mm scale, the vehicles/robots fit in very well with 15mm and have proven fairly popular for some 15mm sci fi gamers!

Great set of links! Thanks for putting this together!  You should post this on the 15mm Facebook group too, it'd be great for folks getting into 15mm.

You seem to be continually updating the list even as I write this so you may still be getting to it, but if not, QRF / Total Systems Scenic makes a small range of 15mm sci-fi figures mainly themed around not-Alien vs not-Predator and Day of the not-Triffids. I think the sculpts are fairly old (having been around since before the 15mm sci-fi renaissance started a few years back), but can't be sure about that.

Just remembered: To those who don't know it, Dropship Horizon is a great resource for 15mm sci-fi gaming. It's always on top of the latest developments, and it has an exhaustive (I think) list of manufacturers, and links to other 15mm sci-fi blogs. I also seem to recall having seen a lot of size comparisons on there, although you might have to delve deep to find them (and I may just be misremembering).

dropshiphorizon.blogspot.com

What's the deal with the 15mm sci-fi Facebook group, though? I keep hearing about it everywhere. Has it become "the" place to discuss 15mm sci-fi? I don't use Facebook and find it a bit disheartening that so much of the discussion seems to be migrating over there.

It is worth a visit, however I wouldn't say its become the place to discuss 15mm sci fi per say. Its definitely one of the more dominant places. The big issue is its pointless posting 15mm sci fi pictures of your work on the discussion board as it will only be seen briefly by a set group of people, and there is no archive to allow others to access it at a later date or expand on their posts.

Essentially its a nice place to show of sneak previews, links to blogs, or as has already been done a few times forums such as Lead Adventure, and is a good way of directly contacting the owners of the companies, and discussing issues that have arisen in the hobby.

I've added Dropship to the list  :)

I think the list is pretty much complete; only a handful of minor 15mm sci fi producers are not yet listed, but I'll get around to them at a later date.

For now, hope that has been of some help to everyone!

Yeah, I'm part of the group, but would much prefer it to be a forum based group rather than facebook based for all the reasons Brummie mentioned. (To be honest I hate facebook and would gladly delete my profile if I didn't conduct a lot of work via it). I think 15mm scifi had been missing a home/focal point and I think the facebook group ended up being 'it'. If dropship horizon had started a forum for 15mm scoff, then I think that would've been better for everyone.

Agreed! Facebook was the stopgap that ended up going mainstream when other alternatives failed to surface or just couldn't draw in the folks involved. Facebook is also much much easier to just pop on and use as well, which I think puts people of signing up to a forum.

If anyone could add comparison images that'd be great too :D  Many thanks

I'll see what I can do  :)

Very cool & useful list! 15mm is now my go to scale for sci-fi & fantasy so I have no doubt this will come in handy down the road.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.
