Adrian's Walls Saxon Church
« on: June 10, 2015, 11:42:16 AM »
I shall soon be introducing my son to the joys of Dark Ages Lion Rampant and SAGA, so in preparation (like I need an excuse) I've splashed out and bought Adrian's Walls Saxon Church. It looks great, we can't wait to see it in action!

There are a few more pics on my blog.

Now if I can just resist the temptation of their Longship...

In the middle of an ancient stone ring?? There has got to be some sort of "Curse of the Celts" low-fantasy scenario to be had from that! :D

The church looks lovely, and I must say it blends very nicely with the rest of your terrain. Just the right "chromatic ambience" (yes, I know those two words together are nonsense) for dark ages Britain.

Adrian's Walls is too expensive for my budget, and I prefer to paint my own terrain anyway, but one thing I appreciate about Adrian's Walls is that the webstore displays the products in photos that "set the scene" with figures and other terrain, showing the terrain pieces "in action" as it were. It's much more inspirational that way. Ainsty is another company that does this. I sometimes browse webstores like Adrian's Walls and Ainsty just for the inspiration.

The spooky thing is … the stones weren't there last night.

Adrian walls stuff is lovely.  But like Grand Manner it's too rich for my blood.

It does look great though

Now there's an idea. A wicked fae folk take on Brigadoon, maybe.

The Saxon Church really looks the part and would go well as an alternative to Gripping Beasts Flint built Saxon Church.  :-* :-* :-* I'm going to have to take a much closer look at this range, especially for the Sudan.

It's often underestimated at just how prolific the Anglo Saxons were at building in stone as not much survives and of course, it's probably that a lot of  Norman architecture was built over the Saxon buildings.
