Back to Pulp - test pilot 11 July

Hi All,

I eventually found the time to finish a gangster league I started ages ago. Introducing Salvatore De Lucia and his gang:

Very nice figures! What rules are you planning to use?

Yes, what rules do you plan to use, and who makes the figures? They look great, by the way!

Pulp Alley, obviously  :D

The figs are conversions with some bits sculpted from scratch. From left to right, I used:

mini 1: body - Knights Model mobsters; head - GW Empire Free Company, feet and hat - sculpted
mini 2: body - Knights Model Black Mask; head - GW Greatswords; hands and gun - Wargames Factory women apocalypse survivors (converted); feet-sculpted
mini 3: body - Knights Model Black Mask crew; head, hat and feet - sculpted
mini 4: legs - Knights Model Black Mask crew; hands and weapon - Wargames Factory women apocalypse survivors (converted);  head - GW Bretonnian archers;feet and torso - sculpted
mini 5: body - Knights Model mobsters; head - GW Greatswords, feet and hat - sculpted

The hats were what really jumped out for me. They all look very "iconic". Amazing work.  :-*

Perfect for some Pulp Alley scenarios.  ;)

Is it that obvious? Guess it seems like there is pretty much one main set of rules for Pulp now. I just broke down and bought Pulp Alley myself... (arrived within 3 days and looks good too)

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Let me introduce Aline Des Fluves Dumarais. She was a famous French interwar pilot even if she is now nearly forgotten. This is a rare picture in front of the Bugatti De Monge 100 Racer with which she was planning to break the world speed record.

Thanks Valerik!

A closer picture of Aline with her faithful schnauzer Moustache. She's a conversion from a catwoman Knights model miniature.

As I mentioned before, the plane is a Bugatti De Monge 100. It was built in 1938 to beat the world speed record but never flew. Bugatti hid it in a barn when the Nazis invaded France.

I'm aware of two miniatures of the plane, both in 1/43 scale. The one below is a limited edition die-cast by Spark. The quality is exceptional. The downside is that it is extremely difficult to find. I searched for mine for weeks until I sourced one from a Greek hobby shop. The other is a plastic kit by Le Mans miniature which is still in production, but I can't comment on the quality as I've never seen it.

For real fanatics, there is also a book on the plane. It can be found on ebay but is very expensive. This being said it is a marvelous book packed with pulpiness.

Wow Duke, what a nice collection you have.

The bugatti is a stunner (they know design!!!) and the converted pilot is perfect. I like her scarf :D

Cheers
Matt

Great use of GW heads, all those guys look very expressive!

I did some digging for those interested, it would appear the publisher of that book has it slated for a autumn 2015 re-print.
