Not for the first time, extreme Threadomancy ahoy....  lol

This is one of those lifetime hobby projects that'll never truly be finished, and periodically I go back to it. I've started a whole bunch of Warhammer Quest figures recently - the beauty of this game is that you can paint a bit of what you fancy whenever you like, and it'll always find a use!

Anyway, I couldn't revive such an old thread without showing something good. I recently treated myself to painting this Wardancer hero, who's been on my lead pile for around 20 years. Such a joy to paint! I've painted loads of modern resins lately, and they all lack that certain something when compared to these old Citadel sculpts. Nostaglia overdrive...

And from the back (HAIR METAL!)

I'll try not to leave it so long for the next update...  :D

Extremely well done. Great colour scheme and I second that the tattoos work well on him. Blends are smooth and the TMM is nicely done with a bit of variation.

Gosh darn it! I only went and painted something else!  lol

Way back in this thread, I showed a photo of some Black Tree Designs Wraiths that I bought, because GW had stopped making Wraith units. Well, it's taken me so long to paint them, that GW has started making Wraith units again. But I have carried on regardless!

So here you go, three alternative metal Wraiths:

I realised that at higher levels, WHQ requires D3+1 Wraiths instead of just D3. So I'm currently working on a spare GW plastic mini to make up the numbers.

I do agree! While I also like many aspects of the new wave of plastic models (allowing for huge robots, thin connections etc.), these old, charming, comical GW models will always have a place in my heart.

It’s a mixture of very high craftsmanship, glamrock, punk and over-the-top poses that make them so enjoyable.

And yeah: Warhammer Quest was one of the best things they ever did!

Another small update, as I got my fourth and final Wraith finished.

This time, a [[gasp]] brand new plastic model from the Shadespire range. Have to confess he's a cool figure. I plan on painting the rest of the box eventually as Undead champions.

Nice work, particularly on the wraiths.  The skeleton is also great - that Shadespire box is excellent.  Shame it went up in price.

The resurgence continues, with another Elf! The third Elf Warrior I've painted for this project. A friend asked if we could play a 4-Elf party, so now, with the inclusion of the Wardancer, we can!

I actually have YET ANOTHER Elf on the painting table right now, and I still need to do the Elf Ranger warrior pack. Which is all very ironic because I absolutely hate Elves  lol  (always more of a Dwarf chap, although I have to confess the old metal Elf miniatures are lovely).

From the back:

And the details. I was inspired by the Oldhammer Wood Elves painted by Mike McVey, with their turquoise dags and Native American-esque patterns.

Decided to treat myself by painting a new Warrior before getting back to the dungeon denizens. This time it's the ever-popular Trollslayer. I admit this is one of my favourites, and I'm really pleased with the way the model turned out. Probably the best face I've painted in a very long time. Hope y'all like!

Lovely work all round mate! I've been through the entire thread, and this Trollslayer is easily my favourite from your log. I hope he slayed suitable foes in his quest for release!
