Every since 1981 the movie Dragon-slayer has been a favorite fantasy film of mine and still holds up really well today. the special effects then were just really, really cool for the time.  I just found that this figure was available and grabbed the last one off of Amazon for under $50, a good deal in my opinion. Check out my blog for more pictures and info.  Thanks

Barbarella: What's that screaming? A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming...

Started my painting on it today and noticed that if you wanted to use this figure for Smaug it would work great and it looks as though it has a small missing scale (enough for lets say a black arrow to get though) but I am still doing it as vermithrax

That is a VERY IMPRESSIVE piece with an equally impressive paint job. VERY WELL DONE!
Dragonslayer was & is a favorite with moi also. Thinking about how long ago that came out makes me really feel old...even more so than normal.

Classic design, enough so that nearly every movie dragon since has taken liberal inspiration from it. And the model is both well sized and well priced for gaming. Glad to see it get more coverage.

Been a long time since I did a vinyl model. I do remember the ones I did back in the day being temperamental about paints. Enamels were right out, as the plasticizers in the vinyl would render them permanently tacky. Acrylics worked well, but varied hugely from brand to brand in terms of adhesion. Some were very permanent, others would flake right off. Wish I could remember which brands did which.
History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

Beautiful model and I love the painting. Thanks for sharing.

I've had a lot of luck using a few thin coats of gesso on vinyl toys before painting with acrylics.
