The good, the bad and the Andy (latest: Dracula's America)
« on: July 21, 2015, 07:51:19 PM »
Howdie!

The Cast:
Hi, I'm Andy (and I'm a Wargame-addicted  o_o)
I'll use this thread to show off my steadily growing Wild West collection.
This thread will be updated at irregular intervals. I'm going to keep the main-title up to date. So you'll always keep up with the latest main-feature of this thread.

The Story so far:
The whole Project started early 2014. I had asked some friends to help me building my own desert-gaming-board (because i had no idea how to build the basement of such a gaming table). After the polysterene boards were finished I started to make the first terrain features. Since then I'm constantly adding western styled terrain features like cacti, different Buildings, and soon a Mining Complex.
I want to cover as many "typical" wild west settings as possible. There will be a Bank-robbery theme, a stagecoach theme, a train set and a whole indian village with buffalos in the near future (i hope later this year!).
To give you a small taste of whats coming up I'll show you a sneak pic of my gaming table:

Thank You for the kind words  :)

Today i tried to paint fire. I started with a white basecoat adding yellow, orange and red to the layering mixtures. I'm not right pleased with the overall look of it  :?

Fire isnīt easy to paint. Maybe this helps you a bit:
My first attempt of painting fire. I didnīt dare to paint torches yet, but I think I should now. Would you agree?

Thank You very much for the pictures. Your fireplace looks fantastic! I'll try to add more white to the source of my flames.

You are off to a great start.
Really like your Mexicans and US Cav. figures.
A really fun period to play.
Look forward to seeing more.

That's a really great idea for the wagon!  :)
Some touch up using Michi's photos as a guide and you'll be fine!

Thank You very much. It's a fun period indeed and I am glad that I have tried out the Dead Mans Hand rule set.

Today i tried to rework the fire a little bit. I added a bit more white and orange to the basic mixture with a small highlight of black. And i started to add smoke as well.
The next step would be to add more 'glow effects'.

Thanks alot, and by the way The pun is a good one  :D

@ All: Thank You for Your Answers.  8)

I've finished the Wagon today. Using Michi's astounding example I added yellow and orange to the surrounding areas forming some kind of 'glowing effect' (Thanks Michi for the fantastic picture  ;))

Now I'm going to finish the arrows and I'll add some victims. I think I'll put them on bases so I can add or remove them from the scene.

Here's a little Sneak Preview of the next Minis I'm working on right now:

Greetings!  :D

The end result with the wagon is smashing!

That's quite a number of lawmen you are going to have, your OW town must be a restless place :)
