Frostgrave – Tales of the Frozen City (Novel)
« on: July 28, 2015, 03:50:44 PM »
So.... "Frostgrave – Tales of the Frozen City" got flagged up as potential reading material that might interest me by our favourite rainforest-named retailer, but I then found very little further information about it. Even the page count seems to vary depending where you look for the book details!

Therefore I ask all you fine Frostgrave fans: has anyone bought it already? Is it any good? Any good stories that would make a good springboard for some themed scenario games? :)

It's a collection of short fiction of various lengths, each written by a different author. They vary in quality quite a bit, although obviously it's fiction so subjective. I enjoyed reading it and it was interesting to read the different takes on such an open world setting. There was only one that I thought was rubbish and a couple were great scenario fodder. The Devil's Observatory will definitely be getting some terrain.

Read the 1st two and the stories are good. the illustrations are just black and white versions of the ones you have seen around 90 pages     not  gre8t but  ok

I'm about halfway through. It's a good way to get into the background but I find the quality to be pretty mixed. A few of the stories are fun and a few are downright bad. For $5 as an ebook I say go for it  ;)

I'm really enjoying it! nothing too deep, but that's the point. It's fun and relaxation, not literature

Picked up the book from Barnes and Noble, as my gaming store couldn't seem to get it for me. It's a fun read for what it is, and has whetted my appetite to maybe doing my own fan-fic. Nice thing is they're added to the world without nailing down a bunch of continuity. There's a whole world to play with.

I would think the Thieve's World stories would probably be much better and inspiring than this tie-in book.

I enjoyed the book and short stories within. Most of the tales were grim...but it is the frozen city so I'd expect as much.

Haven't read it yet, but for me The Barrow by Mark Smylie puts me in the mood for Frostgrave.
