Good Mongol miniatures
« on: July 31, 2015, 02:43:45 AM »
Who out there makes Mongol miniatures? Not a big fan of the fireforge plastic ones and I'm not keen on resin miniatures for wargaming but my mate has some Perry Koreans and I was trying to find some suitable opposition for them.

I believe  that perry Korean armored troops would work pretty well for the Chinese of that era.

Steve Barber models or Assault Group miniatures look quite nice.

Perry Koreans might pass as Mongols with some conversion work but they definitely wouldn't pass as Jin or Song Chinese.

From a wargaming possibility and visual spectacle point of view I very much like your idea but the Perry Koreans are late 16th C. from the time of the Japanese invasions and the Mongols as such had surrendered to the Ming, who eventually came to the Koreans aid against the Japanese, over two hundred years earlier.

My Mongols are mainly Curteys which I know are very marmite but you could look at all the various nomadic tribe ranges like Khitan, Hsiung etc. along with Huns from the likes of Gripping Beast, Essex, Bears Den and even Old Glory to make up a very interesting and diverse force.
