7th Cavalry- new additions: Plains Indian warriors page 4!
« on: August 09, 2015, 12:40:17 PM »
I've reclaimed my old 7th Cavalry from my friend Mark who'd bought them off me a few years ago. I'm going to choose the ones I want to keep and rebase them for a new Plains War project (starting Monday) and get rid of the rest. There are too many to use on the space I've got and far too many to paint opposition for (which is why the original project stalled in 1998).

In the meantime, here are some photos of them in all their (dusty) glory. 12 companies mounted and on foot based for Principles of War with horse holders, shaken markers and dead horses for improvised barricades if things turn nasty (what are the chances?). Also included is a company of scouts, baggage train and the artillery and Gatling guns that Custer left behind.

All the miniatures (except G.A.'s dog) are from Britannia Miniatures.

Love the old Britannia range. I had a fair size collection back in the day. I think I might have even bought several from your shop. :)

I've re based all the miniatures I'm going to use for my project. No photos because the forum just hangs when I try to post with photo links these days. Eventually it'll post several copies of the message if past performance is anything to go on. Edit Yep, three copies appeared below :)

Anyway, for those who can be bothered:

Everyone who's made the cut to the new project is based and ready.

Also, Confederates in authentic Timpo colours for my Major Dundee scenario.

Nice looking project Paul, a long time in the making  :D

later I hope to expand into more of a general wild west feel with Apaches, Mexicans and a wagon train. What I don't want at this stage is a wild west town and gunfighters however and I plan to steer clear of this.

We are of like mind - I have an Old West 'Apache' project on the go that is focussing on badlands and settlers rather than townships and gunmen.

Monalito (sorry if spelled wrong) when two other characters had done the 'pick up a rock, throw it up in the air shoot & hit it' thing. They both looked at him (expecting him to also show his skill) he looked around at the thousands of rocks and said,' I too would do this, but you have used all the good rocks'.
Great memories.

I absolutely love those figures - some people think they are too 'old school', but I absolutely love them.  I use them as Norwegians in my VSF.  How do you plan on getting rid of the extras?

Originally I was going to sell the extra miniatures but I've decided to store them for the moment in case I find a need for them in the future.
