I used Humbrol colours at the time. I don't remember which, I painted these in 1995/96.

Those figures look great! What rules are you going to use?

They look great with their shiny new bases.
 :-* :-*

Did you have to do many 'touch-ups' to the old paint jobs after all this time?

We are of like mind - I have an Old West 'Apache' project on the go that is focussing on badlands and settlers rather than townships and gunmen.

Having done the town (mostly, still have a couple of buildings to add......) I too shall be heading into the wilds when I come back to the Old West in future.
Not for a while, though....

I look forward to seeing what you both do so that I can steal all your good ideas.
 :D

I'll be adapting some I wrote a long time ago for the Plains War.

No, none except where I scraped the paint off a horse's tail when I was cutting the old base away. Oh, and I changed the flags and flag poles.

Originally I was going to sell the extra miniatures but I've decided to store them for the moment in case I find a need for them in the future.

Well, shucks.  These old beauties are not so easy to get anymore.  And your paint is superb as always.

Right, summer's rolled around again so I've been adding to this project.

Teepees and Custer's guidon.
Teepees are new from Acheson Creations, guidon holder is a rebase from my original set.

Artillery. Just too nice not to use so they got rebased too.

And, since I'm painting Apaches at the moment, Buffalo soldiers who are rebased originals with repainted faces. Some scouts have been rebased too and now include my Apache scouts.

More photos on the project page:
http://www.matakishi.com/plainswar1876.htm

Cacti from Woodland Scenics. More of them later as I have more on order. I'll do a group shot once they're all complete.

Project update:
The Plains Indians are off to Andy Mac for painting as soon as I get a missing one replaced, should be this week. I'm going to start on the plains indians civilians very soon.
I am currently painting Apaches. I've nearly completed the ones on foot and their mounted versions should arrive soon so I'll be painting them too.
I have painted most (all except 3) of my Mexican Banditos on foot. Their mounted versions will also be here soon and I'll be painting them as well.
The wagons for the wagon train and the cowboys and settlers are also inbound. They'll all be painted by me.
I'm looking at a train too.

Matakishi - lovely stuff, the repaints and rebasing makes them so much more Old West and less ACW...but the photos are a little small and I may be wrong (and hope I am) they all seem to be wearing yellow neckerchiefs?
