Happy to hear that!  :D

Here in Germany we already got a little AFS "scene". It is really great to see it grow like that.

I shall ask some of the guys to show their AFS projects here, that might inspire some people.

Wow, how I had missed this?!? Looks very interesting. Just had a quick look, and I have a question: in Wild Tribes section there's written that Up to one point of Warriors can be fielded as Warhounds. These are still Warriors, so fielded as unit of 8, not 6 (as they aren't a Creature Pack) right?
Also, Wild Tribes look more as an adaption of chaos marauders alone, than whole Warriors of Chaos, am I wrong? Good part is I will be able to use my Saga Vikings  :)

Anyway, this add-on looks VERY interesting, and also has quite a pro looking layout. Very well done, thank you for sharing! I love Saga, but I have similar experience to you: people seem to prefer fantasy. I'm going to have some more games of Saga now, me thinks (I have a friend urging me to play AoS with him, I could convert him to Saga if only Stormcast were available *hint* :D )
I'll go back reading the whole thread now.

Hey hey!  :D

Yes, the Warhounds are Warriors.
If you go and buy 2 points of Warriors for your warband up to one of those points can be fielded as Warhounds.

That means one unit of up to 8 models. You could always use less, of course.

You could make 5 Warhounds and put the remaining 3 Warriors in your other unit.

As an example, that would give you a unit of 5 Warhounds and 11 regular Warriors.

And yes, the Wild Tribes are pretty generic Barbarians.
You can compare them to the Norsca Barbarians from Warhammer.
Or see them as Germanic Tribes throughout history.

When I developed them the image I had in mind was a mixture of Germanic tribes and all the feral tribes from the Conan-universe.

So long!
Have fun!

"Lately I was thinking about a Saga-adaptation for very early human tribal warfare."

Ooooo please do...

Haha  lol

I think I will, but I need to get these other ideas out of my head first :D

So, atm AFS is definitely my priority... but once it is all done I will take a gander and see what else I can do with the "Saga engine".

There are so many topics one can tackle with good basic skirmish rules.

I would suggest for direct links to pdf files instead of compressed file called via php for easier access from phone. :)

Probably going to try this out when I get my gaming/painting mojo back.

Right now I cannot motivate myself for anything just remotely hobby-related...
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Color me extremely interested! Between this and Frostgrave it definitely looks like I'm swinging back to the fantasy side of my gaming spectrum.

Hey hey! Cool thing!

It has been the same for me. Working on AFS and playing Frostgrave brought me back to my first gaming love, fantasy.

It is definitely going well, it seems AFS sort of "struck a nerve" and a lot of people have found their way back to the fantasy-thing.
(Dragon Rampant might do the same for some people, but I personally dont like the the Lion Rampant-rules, so DR wont be for me, I guess)

It is especially popular in Germany, judging from the number of downloads there, a reason might be that we have our own section for AFS in my favorite German forum:

http://www.tabletopwelt.de/index.php?/forum/490-a-fantastic-saga/

There are also some really nice projects to be seen in the "Armeeprojekte"-sections of the forum.
Two projects that really stick out are these here:

http://www.tabletopwelt.de/index.php?/topic/151349-luferox-die-zwerge-vom-blutpass-a-fantastic-saga-p250/page-19

http://www.tabletopwelt.de/index.php?/topic/151381-gruftischlumpf-krieg-der-g%C3%B6tter-mix-p500/

If anyone wants to get involved there... feel free, do not hesitate, most Germans speak English anyway.

greetz!

Now that Dragon Rampant has been published, here is an interesting comparison between it and our A Fantastic Saga:

This thread, and that article, have really captured my interest for trying Saga (I'm not keen on historical). I just wish it was easier to get Saga rules/dice in Canada!  I was able to order the e book of DR very easily, and a hard copy from Amazon (plus no special dice needed).

That said, I'm going to keep trying. I'm hoping I wont have to order direct from Gripping Beast in Europe, due to shipping times/cost and exchange rates etc.

Thank you, glad to hear that!

I think the SAGA-rules are for a totally different kind of gamer than the Rampant-rules...

Therefore both have their place, but one should know what one is getting into with these games.
If you are the kind of guy that thinks "gaming" and "thinking" are contradictory to one another and you just want an "excuse" to meet with some friends and move some of your painted miniatures, then you should try Dragon Rampant/Lion Rampant.
If you, on the other hand, need a bit of a mental challenge to consider a game "fun", you would have to go with the SAGA-rules.

BTW minijunkie:
I will send you a PM!

So long,
Barb!
