Please do ;)

Meanwhile we are all waiting for the next factions... myself included. Sent the material to my layout-guy a while ago but he is just too busy with his work atm.
So we gotta play the waiting game a bit longer. Meh.  :?

But... soooon. Soooooon.

Oh man! I'm very excited to see this. Right, that's it then off to get my hoplites out of storage.

Thanks again!

BTW, I don't know how one goes about this, but I'm really curious as to how your group is working on this. I can't offer much right now (other than proofreading, really) as at this moment I'm basically just playing Saga at home with one friend. That said, we could probably try doing some playtesting too, if you guys need that.

Well, it starts with me having an idea for a faction... though usually I first have the idea for a Battleboard, meaning a certain concept of how a warband could behave... then I ask myself what kind of narrative context I can find for that fighting style = what kind of race would fit there.

Then I start working on the battleboard, constantly re-writing it over weeks until I have my 12 abilities and am fairly sure that it has the potential to work and that the costs for the abilities are about right.

Then I start play-testing. I have a handful of friends who help me with that. But there is one among them who is willing to sacrifice as much time on this project as I do.
That means I usually go over there, we have a look at the Battleboard and then we try to have as many matches as we can, taking turns with the new board.

Usually there comes a point, after a few weeks, where it has become clear that one of us is getting the hang of the new board. That means from that point on he will be the one using that board while the other one tries all the other factions against it and to "break" the new board, find its weaknesses and strengths.

This process can take very long, but it also can be a lucky shot. The Nocturnelves were such a lucky shot. We had fewer test matches with them than with any other faction because from the beginning it all pretty much worked perfectly.

I also have a friend who has a group of Saga-players he can sometimes get together and try a new board for me.
He is also quite skilled in writing Battleboards (he does "Zen Saga", a Samurai version of Saga, but sadly only in German)
So I value his input and we usually discuss the Battleboards for weeks before I call them "finished".

Once a faction is "finished" rule-wise I go and do the artwork and write down the background.

Then another friend comes into play and does the layout for the PDFs.

And yes, you guys could be of help, if you are willing to play a lot of matches in a short amount of time.
If you are able to do... I dunno... lets say 10 matches in 2 weeks, that would be very helpful.
That is about that rythm that my friends and I have going when a new faction is tested.

So long!
Barb

Thank you, Tancrede :D

Alright, so I finally got around to taking some pictures of my very own Wild Tribes... enjoy!

The horde approaches...

The Chieftain...

The Chieftain and his Chosen...

A giant Monstrosity, ready to tear the enemy apart...

Another monster in the warband... the Troll...

Both creatures amidst the ranks of Warriors...

And random shots of the warband...

So long, guys!

Impressive. I like especially how you blend "historical" and "fantasy" models into one nicely looking army!

What an amazing warband! Between that, the work you are putting into fantastic saga, and the recently announced campaign supplement, I went ahead and ordered the first part of my own warband.
Really great and inspiring stuff!

Which one? We might have a tussle at Horisont (or Attic Attack), if you are going?

Definitely going to Horisont, and will try and attend the Attic Attack as well.
Starting out with vikings, as they fit into my fantasy-stuff as well.

Plan is to buy the rest of my 4 pt starter next month.

OK, don't know if I shall have a usable Viking army by then, but we shall see!

Now, back on topic, and sorry about this short hijack!

Thank you very much, guys!

And yes, I think that blend of "historical" and "fantasy" is what makes AFS especially appealing...

@Argonor

That bear is just great, isnt it? I saw that mini somewhere online and panicked when I found out it was from a Reaper range and out of production.
But I found it in some dusty, dubious online store that seemed likt it hadnt been updated since the year 2000 :D

Maybe you get lucky too... just have a look!
