Definately,playable and very nice figures.
One of my many projects still in development is the Circus of Nights(from the Hammer film Vampire Circus) and some of these figures will work beautifully :)

It has some interesting gaming potentials!

secret agents/criminals/spies hiding among a travelling circus!

travelling either in US, or Europe/Asia/Egypt setting.
Prof. has done something similar in back of beyond times.
