Thug and Crossbowman! Both figures are from WestWind's classic Vampire Wars line. The crossbowman is an armed Transylvanian villager. His ensemble is more pirate or cavalier than Victorian but 19th cen. arbalesters are hard to come by. I gave the mini a swashbuckling paint job, might make him a marksman because he also totes a sword. The thug is from the London Mob pack. I thought he resembled a famous comic strip character, Andy Capp. A brick seems an appropriate choice for his weapon. There's probably a lot of loose masonry in Felstead, I'll bet bricks and paving stones make up many a thugs plan B.

Arbalestrix! The rarest of finds, a crossbow women in Victorian dress. The fig is from WestWinds OOP game Rippers of the Horror Wars. The mini is a slight 25mm. This was the case with all the principle characters from the game. They were packaged with minis from the Vampire Wars line , all of whom were 28mm and up. The Rippers were retro both in size and sculpt. The 2nd pic shows the Arbalestrix next to a Frontier Miniature sculpted in the 70s for a Siege at Peking line. I would like to say Welcome to Victorian Frostgrave Ramirez Noname and  Sunjester! After being alone in this for so long it's great to have company.

Governor General, you've got a great thread going here and I have to say you have influenced me to explore the Victorian scene.

Nice find with the lady armed with the crossbow.

Thug group shot 1! It's no secret I'm fond of thugs and this game goes through them like tissues at an influenza ward. I've painted up a ton of them. I'll be posting more group shots of them and other hirelings in the days to come. RMZ thanks for the kind words, knowing that Frostgrave Victoriana has inspired others is like champagne for breakfast!

Blimey, I wouldn't like to meet that lot in a dark alley, or graveyard ...

Nice work.

More Thugs! Most of my thugs ( in both pics ) are from WestWind's Vampire Wars and from Brigade Games Victorian Age Gangsters. There are a couple of Artizan pieces and figures from companies long gone. When I started this thread I was just painting from minis I already had, like many of us I paint far slower than I acquire. I managed to put a dent in my lead mountain, of course as my mania grew I ended up buying for this project. RMZ and Sunjester thanks for dropping by!

Thrift Store Temple/Mausoleum! Found recently I believe it's a bird house. The building is made from a sand yellow resin that I've washed with a thinned  dark brown acrylic paint. It originally had a cord that ran through a hole in the apex of the roof to a removable disc on the bottom of the base. Also it had a wooden peg coming out of the front. The first pic shows the front, very baroque. The second is a side shot and the 3rd the back where I intend on adding a scratch built door. Not too shabby for a $1.98 US. The minis are 28mm for scale. Thanks Jp for the nice comments about my thugs.

That was a good find and it fits pretty reasonably with the minis.

Thanks Sunjester, Sebrex 13, Hummster and jp1885 . I'm glad you like the piece! My wife and I are avid thrifters and I've found some useful bits and pieces over the years. Once I've added a door I'll dry brush with white and it will be good to go, although it could be used as is.

Dollar store Mausoleum/Temple! This was a blue plastic sand castle mold purchased for a dollar at a Family Dollar store. There were also yellow step pyramids (I bought 3) and a red coliseum that was too small for 28mm but would work for micro scale. While my last post was a lucky find the dollar stores that carry these are everywhere in the US. The 1st pic shows it spray painted black and the other shots show it with a dark grey base and lighter grey dry brushing. For my tastes it's table ready with minimal effort. The minis are 28mm from Brigade Games.
