  • Once bought, must be painted.
o_o Very impressed with the craftmanship shown in this thread. I can't go further than glueing four pieces of cardboard together  :'(

That's take time but the result look realistic. For the texture I use a ball of aluminium and roll it on the wall.

Love your walls 6mmfan, they look great !

The Wizard's Tower is an OUTSTANDING creation that perfectly fits the image of a sorcerous abode. VERY WELL DONE!

Hi all

I've started work on a classic fantasy gaming piece, the Graveyard. The idea is the have a medium sized graveyard (about 200mm squarish) with a few gravestones, a mausoleum and and old twisted tree.

Using the same techniques as the walls I have constructed these stone by stone and it took a while to make and glue the stones all down. I added some details on top of the pillars and for these I used some large pinboard pins and a couple of gargoyles from an Armourcast bridge.

Cheers
Kieran

There has been some more progress on the graveyard.

I've added a stone pathway made from stone with lots of different shapes and sizes, cut out from cardboard. This was pretty tedious cutting each stone out and I won't try it again. To make the path I smeared some PVA onto the base and glued the stones down randomly, and sprinkled some sand into the cracks between the stones.

Also I have painted the walls grey (the same as the walls featured in an earlier post) and almost finished the mausoleum.

I've finished some skeletons but the photos didn't come out well so I try and again post in a day or so along with the mausoleum .

Another way to make the path in the graveyard is as  follows:-
1) Mix up some Miliput (two part epoxy putty)
2) Roll it into lots of little balls of different sizes (I find it near impossible to roll them to a uniform size, so this is easy)
3) Gently place the balls along the route of the path (almost like laying crazy paving)
4) Gently push down on the balls. Use a spoon/ pallet knife etc. if you want a smooth surface, or your finger for 'slabs' with a bit of texture (which dry brushing picks up nicely)

The 'balls' squidge out to fill the gaps, but still leave a line where the 'slab' meets another.
