We have some very knowledgeable and connected people on this board so I'll start my search again here.

As you know, we are putting the Gloire game out at the end of the year. I have been trying to find a manufacturer of Musketeer/English Civil War/Pirates range in 28mm that would agree to allow their miniatures to be used in photographs in the book. I may not need permission, as once they are painted the whole issue of onwership gets muddy, but I like having a manufacturer of figures working with me.

I have contacted both Redoubt and Gladiator minatures but have not gotten responses from either after repeated attempts. I would like to use a range that has enough variety that it could represent many of the archetypes we are doing in the book, so, I'm open to suggestions from here. Any ideas?

How about Renegade? they have a very nice ECW line. Pirates - Crusader and Artizan make new pirates lines and maybe they're interested in working together. And not to forget Wargames Foundry, they have both, Pirates and ECW, but I wouldn't be very surprised if you wont get any answers from Foundry

Nic at Eureka is a nice and friendly chap, you could try him if you don't mind using their 40mm 3 musketeers line.  They also have got a 28mm pirate range, which I have got a small number painted.  If you want, I can even take a photo of them for you with some background set up.

Dixon is another manufacturer with a few of these lines so you can try them as well.

Does anyone have pictures of the Dixon ECW and Pirate ranges? I tried their website but get a database error when trying to view them.

How about paper minis with no commercial license specified? If all else failed they could work for illos, rather than photos...

For $10. It can come out of the "drinking" budget item.

from memory, the dixon website doesn't illustrate all the pirates and ECW figures, they just had a few diorama photos.

anyway, here are the pirate figures that I have painted.  I managed to get 4 of the dixons painted before my interest wandered to something else (pirate orcs at that time!)

I've got a bunch of dixon pirates so if you really want to see them, I'll try to schedule a photo shoot for them.

Oh, and I almost forgot, one of the best line of ECW figures is Bicorne,

Also the perrys have got ECW too

That's a fairly novel interpretation of "swinging the cat."

yup, the eureka pirates are pretty cool!

The guy with the cat came with an oar that he was swinging.  But there is this cat in the range that fits just right into his hand....  I had to sculpt a bit extra to lengthen its tail though.

Operator5,
I sent an emai lto Doug C who runs MInature service center.  I asked him to forward your email on to them.  I had told him over the phone about this project, and perhaps if he puts in a good word for you it will spped up the process
