The Great Detective and the Good Doctor

Next commish from Wargames Illustrated for their movie greats line, Holmes and Watson from the recent films.

I never, ever want to see another bloody pinstripe as long as I live. Watson's shirt was bad enough, but Holmes' corduroy jacket made me weep blood.

'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

Nice! I've been wanting somebody to make a set of these guys.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Outstanding  8)

The pinstriped are brilliant but I'm mostly taken by the texture of Watson's vest and trousers... Wow.

I'm really pleased the wool suit was noticed! I could have just gone for plain grey, but I fancied a little more work would pay dividends. It wasn't really difficult, just time consuming. I used a scruffy little brush to softly stipple first a darker shade of grey, and then successively lighter shades over a mid grey base. A dark wash gave some depth in creases. Because I did the waistcoat and trousers first, it didn't matter how much mess I made with the big fluffy brush.

I think it's your brush work that sells once again, not the sculpts.

Yes, I have to say I noticed the wool suit and waistcoat before I noticed the pinstripes, though both are very impressive.

For the pinstripes, were you going dark over light, light over dark, or some combination of both?

Light over dark. I've learned the hard way it's a lot easier to apply light stripes more prominently over raised areas, than it is to put dark stripes into the crevices. It's just white paint with some retarder medium to keep it nice and runny.
