Crusader Miniatures?
« on: October 06, 2015, 03:58:48 PM »
Does anyone here have any experience with the Wars Of The Roses range from Crusader Miniatures?

http://www.crusaderminiatures.com/list.php?cat=5&sub=16&page=1

I'm thinking of getting a few of these sets to mix in with my Perry miniatures. The infantry look really good to me, the cavalry not so much. Does seem like an incomplete range - where are the billmen and pollaxes?
I'm thinking about getting a set each of the crossbowmen, longbowmen, armoured longbowmen, and pikemen in full plate (to use as standard bearers).

Any thoughts?

More more less Perry sized with a different sculpting style is probably the best way of describing them. They are slighter and smaller then the Crusader HYW range and lack the dynamism that one gets with the Perry offerings.

They are good mini's though :)

I doubt it will be added to as this was a range Mark Sims purchased from another manufacturer - can't remember the name - to sell under the Crusader banner - hence the discrepancy in sculpting style.

I would say definitely not.

Interesting, I think I'll go for it.

As I said, I think the pikemen will make great standard bearers, of which I need lots.

The crossbowmen look really great to me, and I'm actually not too wild about the crossbows with the perry plastic kits.

And the longbowmen will I think be a great addition to the hordes of Perry archers I will be fielding, either mixed in with the plastics or as a separate unit by themselves.

rather bad photo, front rank is Crusader, second is old Citadel (aka Foundry) left hand 2 of 3rd rank are Crusader, 2 hand are Perry plastic. Back rank, Perry, Perry, Crusader, Front Rank

The Front Rank figure is both taller and bulkier than the others.

Same unit of archers with some bellman in front - most of which are Perry plastics.

Thanks Fred, that's very helpful!

They look good next to the Perry plastics to me. Sold!
