Warhammer Quest

I've recently cracked this one open again and just thought I'd mention that it's a brilliant game. Definitely one of GWs finer moments.

Anyone else here play much? Or at all? The reason I mention it here is because it really does transcend the board game genre... particularly with the extra 190 pages of roleplaying guide and the endless possibilities this game seems to offer.

Anyone played anything similar but better? Let's talk Warhammer Quest.

What was the difference between Heroquest and Warhammer quest. I think I played them both but can't remember which is which?
Played the board game one a lot with the four characters searching rooms. An Elf, a warrior, magic-user and Dwarf. Fimars, Skeletons, orcs and a mummy as the baddies. I am sure it was meant to be a team game but my friends (????) were always stabbing each other in the back, blocking rooms and exits. Getting other players killed so they can get the treasure.

That was heroquest, Warhammer Quest was closer to roleplaying than board game.............

That most masterful painter, Gareth, has a thread up on Golden thorone of his versions of the models from Warhammer Quest, well worth a look for the nostalgic!

Our longest campaign was about 3 years/5th level. Once my Priest got the Hammer of Sigmar it was over. We had The Priest, Wizard, Dwarf, and Witch Hunter.
That campaign lasted until we met up with some Flamers of Tzeentch.
We never had much success with the Chaos Warrior, or the Bretonnian Knight, we had a few elves join up for one offs.
Parties beyond 4 characters always upset the rules somehow. Plus the rooms got cramped...
We always refer to the power phase as "The roll a 1 Phase".

I see a lot of potential with, although I've only ever played it a handful of times and just with another person. You can play it solo as well. Most games you can't.

I'm also starting to plan out a set of 3D tiles made out of foam, rather than plaster or pre-painted ones. It is going to be a cool project.

I would really like to run a Campaign though, probably max 4 players... less would be cool as I could throw in an NPC too!

I'm enjoying everyone's stories so far... keep them coming!

Hi all,

I'm putting together a Chaos Dwarf themed dungeon for Warhammer Quest.

So far I have populated it with:

Giant Rats, Bats and Spiders (a must for any dungeon)
Hobgoblins (w/ Axes)
Chaos Dwarves w/ Blunderbuss (+Champion)
Chaos Dwarf Axemen
Bull Centaurs (+ Champion)
Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer
Minotaurs

And this is where I'm a bit stuck. I have a vague recollection of Black Orcs being created by Chaos Dwarves. While this might not be the current fluff, does anyone remember anything about this?

A few other ideas would be Ogres, and possibly some other races to use as slaves and miners.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Much appreciated!

Loved Heroquest and recently rebought a set on ebay which my kids seem to enjoy. I also had the GW version but never played it.

If anyone is interested I recently converted Heroquest to a Pulp Sci-Fi setting to play with my GAFDOZ, Hydra & WSD  collection of minis and my Dwarven Forge Sci-Fi Sets.

I'm a graphic designer, so also produced a full set of cards for it. Happy to share.
