Libertad O Muerte ( Teniente Döring added)
« on: November 18, 2008, 04:59:15 PM »
This is the start of my Republicans. I will use the Triumph&Tragedy Supplement "Libertad O Muerte" for my games.
I´ve already painted the standard-bearer. He will be included in a International Brigades Rifle Squad (guess which battailon  ;) ).
Next will be a Anarchist Militia Unit, HMG and a T-26 Tank. I´ll update this thread from time to time.

Oh, you nasty person. You are making it so hard for me to resist. As usual the figure is great. My only question is how do you manage all the fine detail, do you have bionic eyes?
Cheers.  :o :o :o :o

Absolutely superb!  He looks like a real human being (not a wargames figure).  How do you do the flags???

Excellent!
Once again just excellent!
nice paintjob!, extremely interesting flag!

Absolutely superb!  He looks like a real human being (not a wargames figure).

I second that!

Forgive my ignorance: The flag is based on some actual flag? existed french units praising Thaelmann?

Okay… please don’t shoot at me but… there is a little error on the flag…  :? In French, it should be LA PAIX not LE PAIX. That being said, it’s indeed a wonderfully painted figure!  :)

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Yeah, I noticed that too, and well my French is as rusty as a junker >:D. A very lovely miniature none the same, can't wait for the others!
Everything is better with lizardmen.

The flag bearer is probably from Germany and not very good in French. I call this very realistic figure painting and it looks great to me.

I have glasses and one of those Optivisor thingys, and I have been painting figures for a long time, too long. I've never been able to produce your level of detail.
Respect and cheers.   :)

Wow, you're going to have one heck of a great SCW set-up.  Absolutely fantastic figures.

As for your flags, probably some of the best I've ever seen.

Well done.

Thank you for all your kind comments!
The painter of the flag definately is from Germany :D I had no french at school, choose latin. I´ll correct that.
@argilev.: The Thälmann Battalion was made of german-speaking people from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The flag is probably in french because the International Brigades were trained in France. For me it´s good to know that some germans fought AGAINST fascism (and they fought brave). I´ve stolen the flag-design from the Anglian site, hope Nigell will forgive me ::)
@ Ignatieff: The flag is made of paper. I cut the frings in a piece of paper and inserted this in another paper wrapped around the banner-pole (my english is limited, can´t explain it better, sorry). I painted the banner freehand.
Btw., if anyone needs a special flag I will paint it, the price depends on the design.
