Man oh man you're fast! And once again a great one. I guess the worst punishment by the Cult Leader would be to brush that thing's teeth!

Like when a fish outgrows it's aquarium...

It's an old dreamblade miniature. I think it was called a "caged grawlith" - it's a fun peice to own, it always gets some odd looks. Cheap too- I picked it up for 50 cents.
Thanks, just picked one up on ebay. I had never heard of Dreamblade, theres some excellent creatures in the range.

On the topic of "Speed":

I try to paint 3 miniatures a week, or a group of 5 infantry.... Haven't quite been up to speed, I'm closer to 2/week. I'm thankful when things get in the way because it means I have a life...

With Warhammer Fantasy dead, 40K and Warmachine being over run by win at all cost kinda folk, I've thrown my remaining energy into X-Wing and Strange Aeons... But I feel like X-Wing is slowly being over run as well...

On the topic of "quality":

When I couldn't afford GW miniatures a few years ago... It meant I could not afford "the worlds finest miniatures"... And I became ok with that when I realized I was not the worlds finest painter- I focus on 1 color block, 1-2 hi-lights and find when they are on a board together it looks fine- my painting stile becomes like a colorist for a comic book- a distinct stile and type- and it goes great with itself.

On Replies/This Thread-

Used to frequent Warhammer-Empire..: but again the warhammer thing.

The Mi Go have wings, don't they? Are these a conversion?

Long ago I bought some yithian models- and although delighted once I began doing research on their appearances and trying to play with them- well, they were rather unimpressive to me... The models were so large they really had a hard time blending with the theme-

I decided to play some X-Com to revisit some of my conceptual base for selecting this miniature game. I had some thoughts about how the little greys forced themselves to evolve- and when I saw these reaper minis I decided to give them a try as an alternative.

I'm experimenting with wings out of hot glue ATM- or giving them small backpacks. They do look like Aliens- and their weapons look suited to dicection of specimens.

Looking back- I guess the Yithians were not so bad. The were fun to shoot at, I'll give them that.

If Mike came out with some MiGo I could get behind I would feel a little better about it- or if I could figure out how to work this into a delta green setting...

One strongpoint of Strange Aeons has been theme-

Want to do X-Com 1920 Lovecraft Stile? There is a UFO scenerio!
Want some Zombie Day of the Dead? There is a Zombie Scenerio!
Really love Dunwich Horror or Innsmouth? Monster of the week!
Want to get your True Detectives mojo on? Blam, roll some dice!

By having a varied set of monsters I have been able to explore a wide range of themes and gameplay. I've been really lucky to find this game.

I've been missing the traditional Alien angle from my games- I got to figure out how to make this theme stronger.

Perhaps instead of some bargin bin Bones I should be looking at some Mantic Mars Attacks Stuff?

All this is so very true. Strange Aeons and Pulp Alley pretty much set the bar for our group. Anything else that gets table-time for us has to be a real contender as a result.
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

With the death of Warhammer, recent move and the subsequent disbanding of many of my former gaming circles I have basically played exclusively Boardgames, X-Wing and Strange Aeons...

I've never been more happy with gaming.

Played "Bagman" on my new terrain set at game night- stopped last minute by the one lurker left on the edge of the board- all three threshold agents have no lasting injury.

Hey!  More nice stuff!

It just dawned on me, one of the 'effects' I really like from your table pics (that did not registar until now) is the game "mat" or whatever it is you setup on.

Is that a "mat", it appears quite thin?  Did you make that?

I like that alot more than my clearance cloth I got at the fabric store.   ::)  I may need to upgrade.

Zuzzy Mat

http://www.zuzzy.com/?m=1

I keep it rolled- have noticed no chipping or loss of paint, it's amazing.

Getting the larger pieces can take a while, but they turn their miss-casts into smaller chunks. This 2x2 took only a week to come in. I love it, and it's affordable when compared to a printed vinyl image.

The bases are painted with matching paint, so at nearly any distance the stuff disappears. It makes a really nice art peice.

Next terrain after the farmhouse will be a church and hospital- that should make for a really complete terrain collection...

Then perhaps some overturned trees and logs, a few standing stones-

A nice themed case to carry everything in, re-work some of my warhammer terrain... Then call it quits. Put this guy on the shelf next to X-Wing and just play it until it falls apart!

Next project after this will either be pimping out and painting space hulk or finialy painting and modeling up a Frostgrave table and proper warband!

Hobby Note- and I wonder if anyone else has the same feelings-

After beginning to use he X-Wing GF9 roll up maps, I have really begun to love mats over hard play surfaces. Has anyone else developed an opinion or thoughts on the matter?
