SUV thing (sort of)
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:57:55 PM »
Had a week off work lately, which I spent almost exclusively in the workshop, doing some casting, and making this:

Height 32mm, width 40mm, length 85mm.

The master was made from sheet plastic and a few paper bits, the wheels are scavenged from a toy car. I will make original ones this weekend though.

And as usual, I am short of a name. Any suggestions would be most welcome 8)

Looks great, although the back of the vehicle seems a bit unfinished to me.

Looks very nice. The tires seem to have worked out all right, so did you find a solution?

I really like the way it looks like the illicit offspring of a Humvee and a Dingo. lol

Have to show this to Isamu. I bet heŽll want to do a hover version based on this for his Scandinavians.

Painting-wise or modelling-wise?

Sort of, yes. I had a look at quite a lot of contemporary military cars and then made up my own. As for the tires, I came up with a solution to have them milled. Don't know if it will work out alright, as I said, these are toy car tires. But we'll see soon enough :)

Looks pretty nice, seems kinda 'puma-ish'. Puma perhaps?

Hooray!
 ;D

What I like most about it is the fact that it screams to be converted! A proper post-apocalypse car simply has to be individualised by adding all kinds of bits to its surface.

How about 'Drummer' for a name, just to avoid calling it 'Hummer'?

Modelling-wise. I think it's probably because it ends rather abruptly (maybe it's just the picture) as opposed to the front which is finished with more detail.

Puma sounds good as a name for the vehicle.

You're probably right there. Maybe a bumper will help. And I think the sides of the trunk could use a bit of detail too. I originally intended to fix things like spare tires and jerrycans to it, but if these are left, at least a hint of clamps or whatever could be there.

Not too sure about Puma, though. Makes me think of the WW2 tank. Or expensive sneakers.

I like drummer :P

Well, it looks very nice, though of course the resemblance to a hummer is very striking at first glance. He does seem a bit small, do you have a comparison shot with other 28mm vehicles?

I like this a lot! It's just what my Recon troops need to use alongside my Warthog jeeps :)

Maybe a rear bumper would improve it, but I would be happy with it as it is.

I'd like to see some "turrets" with a variety of weapons, eg chain-gun, missiles, auto-grenade launcher etc available separately to upgrade it.

Extra firepower is always welcome  lol

Really cool.  8)

"Drummer" is a good name for it, I agree, or maybe "Hungo" or "Dinvee".

I also second the idea of some extras to bulk out the back end. Just looks a little bit bare at present.

Warthog jeeps, eh...? I think I've heard that before... who makes them, please?

And the Drummer (or whatever) will be sold at Pardulon, right?

I'm very interested to hear the price tag - my Future Wars troopers need some wheels (actually, the
Capitol Free Marines my friend uses could do with some, too  :D  ) - I was considering some Fenris resin Hummers (and some of the other makes, too...), but this looks kinda more interesting for a futuristic setting....
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Hey guys, thanks for the input!

I have no vehicles for comparison pictures, but judging from the dimensions of the Humvees given in the Fenris Games Humvee thread, this vehicle should be right in the middle. Bigger than FOA and Britannia, slightly smaller than Fenris games and more or less on par with TAG.

It will be available on Pardulon some time in the near future, probably even this year :) Anyone in a hurry, please PM me, I'll be willing to sell some of the prototypes as well 8)
