I like you. You have a slower painting rate than even me.  ;)
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Yeah, well, I spend most of the day in the garden, working on a cobblestone edge around the entire lawn, so I just squeeze in a little hobby time here and there.

I expect to make faster progress when autumn sets in around here, as right now we have summer weather with temperatures well over 25 Centigrades. But I DO paint rather slowly, mostly because I don't paint all too often.

These Zulus are a bit slow to build, by the way - as I use poly cement, I need to let it settle completely before handling the minis too much, lest I displace a newly glued part.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Welcome to the madness !

Can I recommend that you look at buying the big Zulu Army War sets on ebay - you'll get 120 of the natives for around £60. Much cheaper than buying regular regimental boxes of 30.

I have put together a list on my blog of Zulu War figure ranges if that helps

http://shedwars.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/zulu-war-28mm-figure-ranges.html

good luck and will watch with interest

Thanks, but I already got 40 married Zulus in the second hand lot (from the Rorke's Drift set), and I ordered the box of unmarried Zulus from Wayland (20% discount) with some other boxes I 'needed' for other projects, so I have plenty for now.

I don't see myself painting hundreds of Zulus right away - first a company/impi for IHMN, then maybe expand it into a small force for OGAM (just need to figure out a suitable deity), then upgrade to Far Harad/'Mahud Warriors' units for a Harad army for God of Battles, by which time I should probably have about enough for using them for Congo, too, and for encounters with regular British forces (which need to be painted, too  ::) ).

All this will be done over time, though, as I have other plans to (try to) see through, running parallel with this.

Have been painting a bit. Still learning the ropes of African skin, and trying to find a fast way to do all those shield details...

Thanks, I actually put a little more effort into it than I would have, were it not intended for small scale skirmish (IHMN) and instead for full scale Isandlwana battle and the likes.

Thanks, and see below!

That link is also embedded in the small 'globe' icon under my Avatar  ;)

The skin is Foundry 'African Flesh' triad applied directly from the pots. The next one will have an intermediate layer of African Flesh mixed with African Flesh Light for a smoother transistion (I hope).

Two of them, now, Siyanda and Bheka.

Almost identical painting, with a few exceptions.
